What is the capacity at Moby Dicks, Whale Beach?

Moby Dicks has space for up to 150 seated guests, or up to 200 for a cocktail-style wedding. There is space for a ceremony onsite available for up to 200 guests. 

 

What is the capacity at Moby Dicks?

We can accommodate up to 150 guests for a seated event + 200 guests canape style. Please note that COVID-19 restrictions may alter this capacity.

 

What is included?

Included in your exclusive use of the venue, The Boathouse Team to set up, pack down, + to take care of you + your guests for the duration of your Wedding or Event, floral displays on rustic tables in entrance + main room, standard table settings, causal lounge areas, dance space, indoor festoon lighting, + general venue styling.  

 

What does a standard table set-up include?

Fresh white linen table cloths + napkins, white dinner plates, white side plates, cutlery, glassware, + wooden fish table number.  

 

What is the longest time-frame we can hold our event for?

A standard 5 hour time frame is included in your wedding package at Moby Dicks, however 7 hours is the maximum time frame in which you may hire the venue.

Any Extension involves a $750.00 Venue Hire Fee per hour + a per person cost for your unlimited chosen Beverage Package.

All weddings or events have a conclusion time of 11.00pm, except for Sundays which must conclude by 10.00pm. Please note public holiday times vary.

 

Are we able to hire the Bollinger Boat with any event package?

You must have Bollinger Special Cuvée selected as your Champagne option in your unlimited beverage package to be able to hire the Bollinger Boat. Bollinger Special Cuvée is included in Beverage Upgrade Two, or you may opt for a Bollinger upgrade with the base beverage package or Upgrade One. 

 

 Can we opt for a bar tab for our reception?

Bar tabs for spirit purchases may be an option for your event. However, please note that all guests are required to have a prepaid unlimited beverage package. Please contact your Coordinator to see if a bar tab is available for your event.

 

Do you have spirit options?

We can organise spirits for your wedding or event to be available. You can choose to have a pre-paid bar tab or allow for guests to purchase spirits. The spirits will be served from behind the bar, after main meal service, + must be mixed - we do not allow shots, or service of alcohol neat or on the rocks. Please let your Event Coordinator know prior to your wedding or event if you would like to have spirits.

 

Does Moby Dicks Whale Beach offer BYO?

We do not offer BYO options unfortunately.

 

When can our vendors have full access to the venue?

Please confirm with your Event Coordinator access for setting up + collecting items.

 

Does Mody Dicks have wheelchair access or a lift?

Please note, Moby Dicks Whale Beach does not have wheelchair access. Please contact our events team for alternate options.

 

How many Boathouse team are scheduled for our reception?

Approximately one Team member per 15 guests. 

 

Do you charge a fee for cutting our cake?

Cake cutting is complimentary. 

 

Do you have restrictions on live bands regarding noise of number of members?

Moby Dicks Whale Beach reserves the right to monitor the sound levels as needed, in accordance with NSW Legislation and “Protection of the Environment Operations (Noise

Control) Regulations 2017” 

 

Do you cater for our guests with special dietary requirements?

Yes, we do! Please list all guests in our Special Meal Requirements section on your Final Details Form, + we will cater for their needs

 

Will there be another event or wedding the same day as ours?

We only take one Wedding or Event booking per day at Moby Dicks. 

 

Do our vendors need to be seated at a guest table for their meal?

They may be seated at a guest table if they happen to be a friend or acquaintance, however, most vendors will be happy to be seated in one of our casual lounge areas for their main meals. We charge $70.00pp for your vendors, + provide a plated main meal + full beverage package. 

 

Where can guests smoke?

Whilst the courtyard is in use guests are required to smoke at the main road. Once the guests have moved inside guests can smoke in the courtyard

 

Do you provide ceremony styling options?

Yes, we have The Boathouse Ceremony Styling Package which may be set at a location on the Northern Beaches or on-site. Please contact your venue Coordinator to check that this styling is available for your date. If you would like to book this at a local beach or reserve area for your ceremony, this will need to be booked through the Northern Beaches Council before we are able to help with ceremony styling. Please contact your Event Coordinator for further details.

 

Do you offer ceremony styling packages?

If you book our Ceremony Styling Package you have the option to include a beverage station at your ceremony location. Please speak to your Event Coordinator for further information on pricing + potential council restrictions.

 

When is my Final Details Form due?

4 weeks before your Event.

 

When are the final guest numbers for my event due?

4 weeks before your Event.

 

When is my final invoice due?

3 weeks before your Event.

 

Can I add guests after paying my final invoice?

Yes, you are able to add guests up to the day of your event.

 

Can I have a full refund for any guests that have dropped out after the final invoice is issued?

Unfortunately, we are unable to refund after the Final Invoice is issued.

 

Can I leave my items or gifts at the venue to collect the next day?

You are welcome to do this, however all gifts + cards must be taken home by an allocated guest, or family member on the night of the event, and are not to be kept overnight at the venue.

Moby Dicks was a truly special wedding venue and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. We had both our ceremony and reception there and the team were amazing to work with - from the months and weeks leading up and answering all our questions, to the actual day where we could not fault the service. The staff were extremely attentive and professional and looked after us and the guests so well. Glasses were never empty, the service was impeccable and they remembered every detail that we had talked about in the preparation. The venue itself was stunning, the placements and decor were gorgeous and the food was the best wedding food I've ever had. Couldn't be happier with how our wedding turned out - thank you Moby Dicks!

Moby Dicks is a beautiful venue with helpful and well-trained staff. The range and quality of food was fantastic! Highly recommended. The courtyard is the perfect spot for a small ceremony.

Moby Dicks on its own was amazing. Beautiful quiet location, modern looking venue with more than enough space to cater for our 80 guests. The team at Moby Dicks though is what made our experience so positive. During the lead up everything was organised and we were left with no doubt about anything. On the day/night nothing was a hassle and everything ran so smoothly. The food and drinks were great and all of our guests were very complimentary. Would 100% recommend.
