I couldn’t recommend this venue enough!! Venue is gorgeous and staff will make your hearts melt!! Food was delicious, guests kept raving about it. Located on the shores of Watsons Bay. Perfect for a dreamy sunset.
I must start out that the venue was amazing! I can't fault that whatsoever. The food was incredible and our guests were complementing us throughout the night about the quality. My main gripe with this venue is the staff in charge (waiters were AMAZING though). I'm talking about management. I understand during these times, there will be hiccups along the way and we can accept that. However, what I couldn't accept is the lack of communication we received and the ability to come up with ideas on how to work with restrictions. Rather than come to us with 'you can no longer do this' (which we heard alot), we would've much rather have heard 'you can no longer do this BUT what about this option'. They never had any solutions to any issues we had and we were forced to come up with it ourselves.
While the venue is lovely and the location is stunning, unfortunately management and the planning process are extremely lacking. Our wedding was during the covid pandemic which meant that restrictions were in place, and the environment was changing. We felt that we were met with "no, you can't" instead of options of what else we could do. Also, had we not proceeded with our reception, we would have lost our entire deposit as they do NOT offer any amount of money to be returned once paid regardless of what the situation is. On the night of our wedding, their covid marshal informed me that we could not take photos with our guests. I was beyond disappointed at this as we had been in constant contact with the venue all week and they waited until the evening to tell me this additional restriction. Poor management and poor communication. Don't do it.
Dunbar House was absolutely fantastic as our wedding reception venue! We found it so easy to deal with their wonderful team, no question was too big or too small for them to answer.
The staff on the night were exceptional, so attentive and professional.
Food was out of this world, we had so many compliments on the delicious dishes
Really beautiful venue and easy to work with and dress up, it's so well maintained it doesn't need a lot of extra decorations and details
It really was a fabulous experience overall. Weddings are obviously really stressful – and when it came to the reception, I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything at all! From start to finish, the staff were fabulous - guiding you through everything involved. The location is hard to beat, especially for sunset pictures, and the heritage building is gorgeous. Great staff that went above and beyond on the day, fab food which all of our guests raved about - was just an awesome place for our reception. Truly memorable
The day was great, the venue was fantastic. The majority of the reception went through flawlessly. One issue however was the servers did not come around with refills/top-ups or new drinks as quickly or as often as expected.
Dunbar house catered our wedding and we would highly recommend them. They managed catering for a variety of restricted diets and were very flexible on the day. Catering costs were included in the wedding package.
My Husband and I got married under the fig tree and had our reception at Dunbar house last year in June 2019. It was amazing. We loved our wedding. The staff, food and service were amazing. Highly recommend. We loved our winter wedding.
