I listen to the couple for “Their Day”, to ensure that the “Ceremony” is conducted “Their Way”.
I have been a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant since 2008 and have conducted many ceremonies, mostly performed in a traditional way. I have also conducted ceremonies since the 2018 changes to the Marriage Act were brought into Law. I have performed surprise weddings (surprise for the guests, not the couple), Theme Weddings (Phantom of the Opera) or joining a Naming Ceremony with the Wedding Ceremony itself. And where children are born to the couple, or brought together from previous weddings; I can design their involvement to be part of the Ceremony.
Where appropriate, I like to introduce a small amount of humour to the Ceremony; no surprises for the couple, but a giggle for their guests.
The legal requirement to ensure a lawful marriage, under Australian Law, takes all of a few minutes. Therefore, the Ceremony can be as long or short as you want the Ceremony to be.
How do you want to remember your day in the years to come.
