Hello, my name is Natasha Hill. I am a full-time professional and experienced Marriage Celebrant & MC based in Brisbane, QLD. I was registered on 1 April 2010 and have performed numerous ceremonies in that time. Whilst based in Brisbane, I am more than willing to travel to your dream location. Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so it makes sense to choose a marriage celebrant that you feel most comfortable with. Your Celebrant should be able to understand your feelings and ideas of love and communicate them well. This can make all the difference to your special day.

I extremely professional and take pride in my appearance and put the ‘O’ in Organised. I have meticulous planning and attention to detail, which stems from working in the legal industry for 19 years, am reliable and efficient, friendly, down-to-earth with a bubbly personality.

I was recently awarded a 2023 Bridal Industry Award (for Top 10 Celebrants in Australia), 6th in QLD in 2022 with an overall bridal rating of 99.88% as voted by my past couples; a QLD (State) Bridal Industry Awarded (3rd place) in 2021; Winner/No. 1 Marriage Celebrant in QLD in 2018 & 2020 and was recently named 2023's Top 3 Marriage Celebrants in Brisbane by 'Three Best Rated'.

A little about me.. - I celebrated my 40th Birthday in Hawaii in June 2017 - I met my soul mate in 1993 when I was just 16 years old - I eloped to Italy in 1999 - I lived and grew up in Sydney - I worked as a Head Waiter in a Wedding Venue for 4 years - I took a year off in 2013/14 to travel around Australia in a Caravan - I have travelled to Europe, the UK, Japan, Tasmania & NZ - I have 2 sisters, 2 nephews & a niece - I love Italian food, wine and socialising/networking - I’m a cat lover

With such a large number of Celebrants now registered to perform legal ceremonies, couples are spoilt for choice, although this can be quite overwhelming.

Whilst cost is important for budgets, getting married is one of the most important days of your life, so it makes sense to choose a Celebrant that you feel most comfortable with to help you make one of life’s most important promises.

Your Celebrant should be able to understand your feelings and ideas of love and communicate them well. This can make all the difference to your special day. A Celebrant is, after all THE most important part of your Wedding Day, yet usually the lease expensive of all your wedding suppliers.

I believe the most important credentials of an Authorised Marriage Celebrant are Professionalism; Experienced; Good reputation; Reliable and trustworthy; Accessible and approachable; Well respected and highly regarded as well as Welcoming and accommodating

So where do you start?

The first step is perhaps to search for Celebrants in your area and have a good look through their website. What do they include in their ceremony packages? Are they easily contactable? Do they present well and suit your wedding style?

It’s also a great idea to take the time to read through half a dozen Testimonials/Reviews to see what other couples have said and how have they rated their experience.

The next step is to contact the celebrant and arrange a face-to-face, no obligation meeting. This is an opportunity to meet and greet, for your Celebrant to find out all about you and to make sure you feel totally comfortable with your choice. It’s important that you are able to relate and communicate well together.

Once you have made this important decision, your Celebrant will guide you through the ceremony process by providing a thorough explanation of the legal paperwork and what is required of you.

It is always a great idea for a Celebrant to compliment your wedding colour theme, rather than stand out and be the focal point.

Natasha is so lovely and professional, she makes creating a your dream ceremony so easy and is happy to include our exclude whatever you want. She has fantastic resources and suggestions and clearly cares about delivering the perfect ceremony. Her process not only meant we had the perfect ceremony but that we had valuable time as a couple answering her questionnaire and discussing what we want to include. She handled all the ceremony and pre ceremony music perfectly, wore colors to match our theme and moves out of frame for all the important shots. She also handled our cocktail reception and made sure of guests knew where things were and what the plan was as well as keeping the day perfectly on track. Our day would not have been anywhere near as smooth or perfect without her there to guide us.

When I first met Natasha at a wedding expo, I didn't feel an immediate gel - but I won the main prize of a voucher for her services. I am over the moon that I did! From the moment my husband and I sat down and met her properly we immediately knew she was 'the one'. She was such a pleasure to meet over coffee and there was no pressure to use her services. Natasha was our celebrant and MC, and I cannot imagine the ceremony and reception going smoother than it did. From planning to end we were in the loop 100%. Natasha took the time to get to know us as a couple and tailored a perfect ceremony. She will send you EVERYTHING you need to plan your ceremony and you decide on even the wording of the ceremony. She explains everything in detail and makes sure you're happy with everything multiple times. Her wealth of resources, examples and experience is invaluable. I tried not to be bridezilla but I had so many questions, and Natasha got back to me ASAP with even the smallest things. She has great relationships with a number of vendors - no need to question why. I never felt as though she thought I was annoying or pushy, which I appreciated so much. I have a number of mental health issues and needed to make lists and organise every detail, she was on board helping where she could. She is an incredibly busy lady but still got back to me when she had the time between ceremonies and even into the night. Her dedication to the job sees her working late to make everything perfect. Her communication is superb. Natasha is a perfect mixture of professional and relaxed. You will never see her with a hair out of place or a without a gorgeous dress - she treats every meeting as though it is the most important thing. Be prepared for (consensual) hugs! She will laugh and joke with you as if you're an old friend. She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, which is no mean feat. She's the kind of person I would love to grab a cocktail with (and luckily got to do so after she 'clocked off'). Not only was she fabulous as a celebrant and MC but she fell into the celebration like a friend or family member. Anyone who spoke to me about her said how fun, vivacious and friendly she was. It was an absolute pleasure to have her as a guest after the formalities. I saw her chatting on multiple occasions to my family and friends, really felt like a beloved guest. Her run sheet was very detailed and really put my mind to rest (as mentioned I am an absolute control freak). She made sure to explain the traditional run of things but also personalised the ceremony and reception to us. She offered a unique service that was exactly what I wanted. Her wealth of resources was invaluable. When I say she went above and beyond, I mean it. She even helped me find my dress! And it was *perfect*. She literally bought 3 suitcases to one of my bridesmaid's houses for me to try on (I was having trouble finding something special as a plus size woman, and she had a friend who's business had closed). I was so touched and happy. I cannot recommend Natasha highly enough, there is a reason she is so incredibly sought after and so highly recognised with awards etc. Just have a look at what she's won! Can the celebrant refer to us as husband and wife in a commitment ceremony?

In a commitment ceremony is the celebrant allowed to say husband and wife?

The Marriage Celebrant Guidelines state that to avoid doubt, celebrants must avoid using the words ‘wedding’ or ‘marriage’ to describe the ceremony. Whilst the Guidelines do not specifically mention that "Husband" and "Wife" cannot be used, they do of course pertain to a "marriage".

A commitment ceremony could incorporate important rituals and provide photographic records; however, it has to be publicly made clear to everyone present that the ceremony is not a marriage.

Celebrants may conduct commitment ceremonies for a couple. These are "not" marriages and the commitment ceremony must not purport to be a marriage.

As a commitment ceremony is not considered a legal marriage, the celebrant must not prepare or submit any paperwork (such as the NOIM and declarations as to conjugal status). Witnesses are not required for a commitment ceremony. A certificate of marriage, or any other certificate referring to the Marriage Act, must not be prepared for a commitment ceremony.

Celebrants should deliver an appropriate introduction at the beginning of the ceremony making it clear to the guests that the ceremony is not a marriage ceremony and that if applicable the marriage has already occurred or is due to occur at a later date.

To ensure the validity of your marriage, an Authorised Celebrant is required to say the Legal Monitum (what marriage is according to law). You must say legal vows (4 lines in total), usually read as a 'repeat after me'. These are the words that "legally" make you married and then the signing of the Marriage Certificates with 2 legal witnesses formalises it all. I believe the best way for a Celebrant to create a personal and fun ceremony, is for you to give them as much information about you and your relationship. You could help them by answering questions like: - How and when you met; and the proposal? - What you liked about each other when you first met? - When did you decide that you wanted to be together forever? - What were the good things that helped you decide? - What does marriage mean to you? - What you each (individually) love about each other? - What leisure, sports and/or interests you enjoy together? - What does family mean to you? - What your hopes and dreams are for the future? - Anything else you think is relevant, especially if you have any children. What they mean to you and how they have changed your relationship. Getting to know my couples better, certainly helps me to create personalised and fun ceremonies.
