Can we include our children in our ceremony?

Including Children in your wedding ceremony. Children might not do everything you think they will during your ceremony?it might not be ‘perfect’, but I can assure you it will be cute and entertaining. I have had brides breastfeeding during her ceremony and a pair of twins playing hide and seek in the wedding dress. It is organic and my favourite part of a wedding. One great story is where a little boy takes the rings up the aisle, but every few steps he turns around and makes a ferocious face and growls at the crowd. The crowd laughs hysterically, but no one understands. Later, when he’s asked what he was doing, he seriously answers, “Being the ring bear!”

What happens in the event that we have to postpone or change the date of our wedding?

I have had some couples who have had to reschedule three times in the last two years. I am very flexible and accommodating in these circumstances and will do everything possible to ensure we can get you married! Any monies paid for services not yet rendered will also be fully refunded in the case of unforeseen circumstances. I will always do my best to help in any way that I can!

Yes, it is. A legally registered Australian marriage is recognised worldwide. Your official marriage certificate from Births Deaths and Marriages is the key document you will use for visas, residency, name changes and international paperwork. Some countries may also ask for an apostille or authentication, which is a simple process through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. I will guide you through everything so your international plans feel easy, organised and completely stress free.

Can we include wedding rituals or symbolic ceremonies in our wedding?

Absolutely! Your ceremony can include beautiful traditions and personal touches such as handfasting, a mead blessing, unity candle, sand ceremony, ring warming, ancestor acknowledgement, water ceremony, love letter and wine box ritual, tree planting, cultural blessings, personalised ring exchange, bouquet gathering walk or a remembrance candle ceremony.

Can I choose what my celebrant wears

Of course you can. I want you to feel completely comfortable with every part of your wedding day, including what I wear while standing up there with you. I have a lovely celebrant wardrobe with modern, elegant and timeless outfits in lots of colours, so you are very welcome to tell me your colour palette, dress code or the vibe you are going for. Whether your ceremony style is romantic, coastal, classic, boho or full luxe, I will choose something that fits your aesthetic and blends beautifully into your photos. My job is to support your vision and help your ceremony feel seamless, relaxed and very you.

What is the process of getting married? Published

Getting legally married in Australia is simple when you know the steps, and as your authorised marriage celebrant, I guide you through every part of the process to keep things stress-free and seamless.

1. Choose an authorised marriage celebrant Your celebrant is responsible for ensuring your wedding meets all legal requirements under the Marriage Act 1961, and that every document is completed correctly.

2. Lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) You must lodge your NOIM at least 30 days before your wedding and no more than 18 months prior. I help you complete, sign, and file it. You will need to show ID such as a birth certificate, passport, or driver licence. If you have been previously married, you must provide proof of divorce or your former spouse’s death. These documents can be sighted in person or via email.

3. Translate non-English documents If any of your identification is in another language, a NAATI-certified translation may be required. I will advise you if this applies.

4. Sign your Certificate of No Impediment (CNI) Before your wedding day, you will sign a declaration confirming you are over 18 and free to marry.

5. Choose two witnesses You need two witnesses aged 18 or over to attend your ceremony and sign your marriage certificates. If you are eloping or keeping your wedding private, I can arrange witnesses for a small fee.

6. Include the four legal components in your ceremony Every Australian wedding ceremony must include: • the Monitum, spoken by your celebrant • your legal vows (“I do”) • your legal declaration as a married couple • the signing of the marriage certificates by you, your witnesses, and your celebrant

Everything else — readings, rituals, humour, storytelling, music — is completely up to you.

7. Post-ceremony registration After your ceremony, I lodge your marriage documents with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages within 24 hours. I am happy to apply for the Official Marriage Certificate (required for name changes) on your behalf. Processing times vary, but are generally around two weeks.

Do I sign the marriage documents with my maiden name? Published

Yes, you do. On your wedding day you always sign your marriage documents using your current legal name, which for most people is their maiden name. Your married name only becomes official after your marriage is registered and you apply to change it. I will guide you through the whole process so everything feels simple, calm and completely stress free.

Christina's ceremony service was personalised nicely for us as a couple. It had a perfect balance of warmth, solemnity and humour. Her outfit was lovely and matched nicely with the wedding party's. Christina arrived at the venue very early, (before the groom) and helped to organise people's positioning, and explained how everything would proceed during the procession. We honestly couldn’t recommend Christina enough. Me and my partner are both pretty horrible at organising things, and when we first started planning the wedding we were getting really overwhelmed with all the different choices and everything that needed to be organised. Christina made the whole process so much easier for us. Having everything together in one package took a massive amount of stress off our shoulders and meant we didn’t have to worry about trying to organise everything separately. She guided us through the whole process, explained everything clearly and was always happy to answer any questions we had. The venue was absolutely beautiful as well and was exactly what we were hoping for. Everything looked amazing on the day and it made the ceremony feel even more special. Having the venue and everything else organised together just made the whole experience so much easier for us. Christina also put so much effort into making the ceremony feel personal to us.
