Originally built as a family house in the 1850’s by enterprising Englishman William Dart and later taken over by businessman Jens Holland and Hans Petterson in 1986, Hillstone has developed into a truly iconic Brisbane events venue. Exuding Queensland charm and intricate detail, Hillstone consistently delivers a unique, memorable, and homely experience to its clients.

Whether it’s a grand wedding reception held in our epic Grandview Room or a more intimate ceremony amongst the lush greenery of our Courtyard Garden, Hillstone’s stunning architecture integrates the beauty of its surroundings with modern designs, particularly sought after for its charming outdoor terraces and award-winning facilities.

Hillstone has over 200 complimentary car spaces onsite.

If you would like to organise your own theming for the ceremony you are most welcome to. We are happy to place out items such as ceremony booklets, singular centrepieces, name cards and welcome signs etc. Please note, however, that you will need to organise a friend/family member or hire the services of a theming company to hang any finer detail, draping, hanging pompoms or fairy lights etc. in the ceremony space. For your ceremony, you are welcome to use real or dried flowers to throw. We are unable to allow scatters or confetti to be used at our venue. 

You are more than welcome to organize live music for your ceremony however for both the Courtyard Garden and the Fountain Area, Hillstone St Lucia will provide a portable PA system which supports IPod’s and smart phones. If you are not hiring a musician or DJ for your ceremony please allocate a family member or a friend to control the music for your ceremony. You will generally need the following tracks: o One song for walking down the aisle o Two songs for the signing of the register o One song for walking back down the aisle (after the ceremony has finished)

o White Tiffany Chairs o White linen tablecloths o White Linen napery o Cutlery and glassware o Four tealights per table o Table numbers o One printed A5 menu per table o Dressed bridal and cake table o Bouquet vases

For Grand View Room weddings, the projector screens and projectors are in built so an AV technician is required to manage your slideshow and projector needs. This is subject to availability and a tailored quote can be provided by our supplier. You can hire our Hillstone data projector for $250.00 or bring your own (Rosewood Room and Library Bar). We will provide a tripod screen complimentary, but you are required to bring your own laptop and speakers for amplification of music related to the slideshow. You will need to bring the following items with you: o Laptop o Speakers o Laptop charger o Designated person to play the slideshow o If you bring a Mac computer please provide the appropriate converter for Mac to VGA as Hillstone does not have them onsite. 

Yes, we cater for dietary requirements. You will need to advise your wedding coordinator of the guest name and their specific dietary requirement, request, or preference during the planning stages. Final dietaries will need to be submitted ten days prior to your wedding. Preadvised standard dietary requirements may have a surcharge. Pre-advised requests and lifestyle preferred meals (i.e., Paleo) will be subject to Executive Chef’s approval, and will most likely incur a surcharge. Many of our menu items are suitable for guests with dietary requirements or can be altered to accommodate guests with specific dietary needs. Please note if guests with advised dietary requirements change their mind on the day, we are unable to provide an alternative meal as our chefs will cater for guests specific requirements as requested

We can arrange a meal for your suppliers should they require one. We have two options available: $42.00 per person for a main meal and non-alcoholic beverages $22.00 per person for tortilla wraps and non-alcoholic beverages 

Yes, we can arrange for your wedding cake to be served as dessert with fresh cream and berry coulis to all of your guests. All our menus are reduced by $6.50 per person when having cake as dessert.

Cakes must be prepared in a commercial kitchen, or if being prepared at home, the baker must have a kitchen that has been approved by the council and hold a food safety licence. Delivery of wedding cakes is usually from 9am on the day of your wedding, however day before delivery is permitted, with approval from your wedding coordinator.

Hillstone staff are here to help and want to take the stress out of your wedding day so you can enjoy the experience. We are more than happy to setup all your name cards, wedding favours, guest book and any other small decorations. If your centrepieces are one piece per table, we are happy to put these out on the tables for you. The only things that we do not set up for you are hanging baubles or pompoms, draping of any kind, complex centrepieces and arranging flowers. You are welcome to have a friend or stylist set these for you. We require everything to be delivered in your drop off meeting. 

Hillstone reserves the right to book other functions in the same room, up to an hour before the scheduled commencement time, and an hour after the scheduled finishing time. This may affect the allowed drop off and pick up times for your suppliers. Please liaise with your wedding coordinator about availability of the room for bump in and bump out of your theming. If you are hiring furniture such as bentwood chairs, the company is required to put the chairs in place around the tables, and complete all setup such as placing cushions and removing the cover. Pack down of the chairs will be determined closer to the date and depends on the room reset. The company must come in the following day by 10am to remove the chairs from the venue. If Hillstone St Lucia staff are required to move, setup or pack down chairs there will be a staff fee determined by the wedding coordinator.

We would love to see you six to eight weeks prior to your wedding to finalise your menu, beverages and final details for the reception, as outlined on the Finalisation Checklist. Your Wedding Coordinator will be in contact with you to organise this meeting.

Please be advised that we cannot guarantee any changes to your food and beverage menu made within two weeks prior to your wedding date. Changes within this time frame, if possible, may incur an additional charge as outlined on the Finalisation Checklist. Your Wedding Coordinator will be in contact with you to organise this meeting.

Yes, wedding party photographs are allowed to be taken on the golf course, but only with golf buggy hire which can be hired through St Lucia Golf Links. Use of the buggies and the course itself is subject to the Terms & Conditions of the Brisbane City Council. Areas surrounding Hillstone St Lucia, including its function rooms and outside ceremony areas may be used, subject to availability. Please see your dedicated wedding coordinator for more details.

The majority of your belongings must be taken with an allocated guest at the end of your wedding, unless prior arrangements have been made. Hillstone St Lucia accepts no responsibility for belongs left at the venue after this time. Your wishing well MUST be taken with you at the conclusion of your wedding.

All our wedding packages are inclusive of beverage packages and you have the option to upgrade or extend your package. If a beverage package isn’t for you, we are happy to change to a bar tab. Nominate a selection of drinks for your guests, and a dollar limit, and we’ll run a tab for you. A minimum of $20.00 per person is required prior to the event, and any additional amount will be invoiced after your wedding. All drinks are served either by wait staff with tray service or to the table once seated. Guests welcome to visit the bar if they would like to order their own drink, however we do offer full table service. The bar is well stocked and is always available for guests to purchase their own beverages that are not included. 

We cater for children from three to twelve years with a specially designed children's menu. We also have a special rate (dependant on the package chosen) for any adolescent guests between 13 - 17 years of age. We do not have babysitting facilities at the venue. If you would like a separate area for children, this can be organised, pending availability, however a hired nanny or carer will be required. No children are to be left unattended at any time.

We allow real candles to be used in all our function rooms and adjoining terraces. We do require that any flames placed on the ground must be enclosed. All candles placed on guest tables as decoration must be on or in a holder of some kind. No open flames are to be placed in our bathrooms.

I cannot recommend Hillstone enough as a wedding venue. We chose to have our recent wedding ceremony and reception at Hillstone and couldn’t have been happier with how our day turned out. The venue is spectacular, with two beautiful separate ceremony and reception locations to cater for any size wedding. The staff are helpful, polite and professional, and the food is superb. All our guests had fun, left happy and with full bellies. Their wedding coordinator team are on top of everything and were helpful in collaborating all our vendors in the lead up to our wedding, as well as on the big day. Everything ran smoothly and to plan. Thankyou so much Hillstone team.

Simply the best. We planned our wedding at Hillstone from Sydney after changing from a previous venue. Our wedding was 6 months away and we wanted someplace tranquil where both us and our guests could relax, unwind and dance the night away. Hillstone had no hidden costs or agendas with quality service and a high regard for client relations. We were taken care of from our very first phone call. Within the day, we had fully personalised brochures and a quote with all costs. They immediately showed care, answered all of questions promptly and showed a genuine interest in helping us plan our day. In the two months prior, Jess worked seamlessly to schedule our whole day from the moment our feet touched the ground to when we said our goodbyes to our guests. We cannot thank them enough. I can't recommend Hillstone St Lucia enough for anyone looking to host their dream wedding. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of perfect. The location itself is stunning. It was convenient for our guests, being central in Brisbane, and the ceremony area was beautifully adorned with lush greenery, creating a picturesque backdrop that took our breath away. The staff at Hillstone St Lucia were exceptional, with special mention to our planner, Jessica. She was not only incredibly professional but also warm and personable, making the planning process a breeze. Her attention to detail and dedication ensured that everything went off without a hitch. The photo areas were absolutely gorgeous, providing a variety of stunning settings for our pictures. The food was another highlight—absolutely amazing, and it received rave reviews from all our guests. Remarkably, there were no visible issues or hiccups on the day. The staff managed everything seamlessly, so we were able to fully enjoy our special day without any stress. If you're considering Hillstone St Lucia for your wedding, I cannot recommend it enough. It's a venue that truly delivers on its promises and will help make your wedding dreams come true.

We cannot thank the team and Jess enough! Nothing was ever an issue, the were Incredibly helpful, thorough and they never looked stressed!! I don't know how they do it. The food was world class and everything was just PERFECT. The location and venue is brilliant. From the gorgeous ceremony garden to having a dining room upstairs and the library bar down below. This was a major draw card for us as we didn't want our guests confined to just one room all night. We HIGHLY recommend the staff and the venue for any events but especially weddings. You will not be disappointed. Please invite us as we would love to go back!
