Teamwork pays off at Suzanne and Adam’s modern rustic wedding

Wedding: 17/10/2015

It was love at first sight for Suzanne Harvey and Adam Clarkson.

The two emergency services workers met on Suzanne’s first day at work and after discovering they shared plenty of common interests, a strong relationship blossomed.

“The proposal was bittersweet. After four years together Adam proposed to me as mum was a week from losing her battle with leukaemia and she wanted to see her only daughter’s engagement,” Suzanne, 31, explains.

She and Adam, 29, planned their modern rustic wedding for October 17, 2015. The Victorian pair wanted to keep the celebrations close to home and wed at the RACV Healesville Country Club in front of 110 friends and family, with the reception following at the same venue.

“To save money and add my personal touch, I designed and made the reception decorations and table centrepieces,” Suzanne says.

In place of the traditional bomboniere, the couple instead made a donation to the Leukaemia Foundation in memory of Suzanne’s mum. The couple were also careful to use local suppliers and said working together as a team helped them achieve their dream wedding.

“We work together as a team at work and home, which created a no-stress and no-tears day,” says Suzanne. “It was all laughter and love.”

With only two months to the big day, Suzanne finally found her dream gown; a Lillian West design from Vintage Tulle.

“We got married on our fifth anniversary in our hometown,” Suzanne says of what made the couple’s day extra special.

Local knowledge paid off, with the couple taking their photographer to an abandoned railway line for some unique shots. “It turned out beautifully,” Suzanne says.
