Hi there. What's the availability like on wedding flowers now because of covid? Are some varieties hard to get? And is there a longer than normal ordering time for wedding flowers? Thank you!

Covid has certainly caused delays in transportation, but thankfully with artificial flowers, most varieties are still available. Just make sure you allow extra time when ordering to be sure your supplier can get what you want in time.
It's always best to book your florsit as soon as possible, some varities are harder to get at particular times of the year, also depending what state you are in. Since Covid Imported flowers are harder to get, but local is usually the best choice!
hi, if we were still in the deeps of 2020 then yes i do believe we would be cautious about our flower order and availability. at this current time, for myself so far i have been fortunate to be open with my brides about availabiltity if we are after a particular flower,so that we are not disapointed if unable to proceed with that flower, if an import situation is effected due to covid. i have found for a more stress free wedding brides have opted for "seasonal" flowers in their theme tones to help avoid disapointment on the wedding day. we talk about our favourite flowers, so if possible they arrive in time for the weddign then its an added suprise for our brides.

Unfortunately yes it has and in addition florists have seen an increase in prices. Check with your florist to ensure that what you want is available and your florist will be able to suggest alternatives if the supply cannot be met.
Hi There!
Thanks for your questions. The short answer is yes, unfortunately in the past covid has , and can potentially still affect availability. Some varieties of premium flowers are imported, and like all deliveries, some delays have been unavoidable. Where possible, local and seasonal flowers are often the safest option.
Hope this helps!
Absolutely it has! We have seen supply numbers drop and there have been price increases across the board in particular premium and imported rose varities. There were shortages felt across the board in 2020 for all sorts of COVID related reasons and product is slowly starting to make it's way back but it's still slow.
We do all we can to ensure we secure what we need for your Wedding or special event by ordering avance, somtimes as far as 6 weeks out and unfortunately there have been times I have still not received what I've ordered. As we are dealing with farm grown product and imports, It's all supply and demand and we are limited only by what our suppliers can get through.
Sometimes we only find out when our suppliers receive their supply and when the trucks come in, so it's very short notice. By then we can only create with what we have. I'm sure I say this for all Wedding Florists and that we do everything we can to source the product you really want but sometimes have to create based on what we have. Hope this helps! Hello, There are always beautiful flowers available in Sydney.
We're in a very fortunate position due to all the differesnt growing climates available in Australia.
Some seasons we have more varieties than other times but there is always something gorgeous to use.
The prices have increased since the Covid pandemic started due to increased frieght and labour charges.
At Susan Avery Flowers and Evnts we have always ordered our wedding flowers early to ensure we get what we want.
We are one of the largest buyers in Sydney with over a 40 year track record to purchasing form the wholesalers
so they always look after us.
Have fun planning your wedding and let us know if you have any further questions.
Best wishes, Susan
Locally sourced flowers there shouldn't be a problem, if you are after imported flowers then there could be a shortage. Always best to go locally anyway.

Ask a questionHi! I'm Chelsea and I can help you find suppliers for your wedding. Would you like some help today?
Covid and fuel prices has definitly pushed the price of flowers up, especially imported ones, but as mentioned below, locally sourced flowers are still in good supply (and much fresher!). Florists are at the mercy of nature- so often, even if you have pre-ordered a particular flower variety, it may not be available on the day at the market (this may be due to excessive rain, heatwaves etc). But you can trust your florist to create something beautiful with what nature has provided at the time!
