How far off from the wedding date should I start looking for dresses?

I have no idea when to start looking for my dream dress. I'm someone who is well organised and ideally I'm trying to have everything for the big day sorted 12 - 8 months prior to the date however I'm stuck on when to start looking for my dress. I'm worried that if I leave it too close to the date then I'll stress out and rush the process and then on the other hand I'm worried I pick too early and want to change the dress.!! I might add that I also hate shopping and can never decide on things from clothes to dinner ha! Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

How can we pull off the perfect surprise wedding?

We have a lot of family drama, a lot of different people trying to take over and be in control and so my partner and I have decided to throw a surprise wedding because we still do really want all the people we love there (rather than eloping). We have already had an engagement party, so we can't pull that trick.. can you give me some advice/options on pulling off the perfect surprise wedding

Can I hire a celebrant and have a "wedding" for my friends and family even if I already eloped?

Just wanted to do something nice for my family because we eloped about a month ago but it's not like we need to get remarried... haha. I don't want to do a reception at all and only want it to be small. Mainly a photo opportunity.

What is everyones thoughts on +1s at a wedding??

We are already on a tight budget and originally i had just said family only... but when planning out our tables my fiancé and my mother asked where the partners of our bridal party are and where family members partners were sitting and i said they weren't invited and they both looked shocked like you can't not invite your bestfriends partner to your wedding...in my head i say why not? Its my wedding, i dont like her partner and i don't want them there... is it terrible for me not to invite them?

Do I need security at my venue?

Do most venues provide this or do I need to look around? I don't know if I need it, but we have a large group (210) so I wanted to know if that means I need it? Also what is the ratio of security to guests?

Is it normal to invite only family to the wedding but open up the registry to anyone?

We only want a small wedding but some of our friends want to get us a gift. It seems rude to still ask them to contribute but would it be a faux pas to post our registry and wedding website link on social media?
