Wanting to get some ideas on how long to leave for photos in between our wedding in Werribee (Melbourne), how long should we take at each location? Where are some good places to for photos?

Lots of solid advice here already, so I will give you the timing logic we use rather than just a number. The honest answer is to build your photo time backwards from your reception start, not forwards from the ceremony. Work out what time you want to walk into your reception, subtract travel and a buffer for traffic, and whatever is left is your real shooting window. We like at least an hour of actual camera time, and 90 minutes if you want a relaxed pace with a couple of spots.
A few things people forget to factor in: signing the register, hugs and congratulations after the ceremony, and family photos all eat into your portrait time before you have moved an inch. If you want a full family group list done, give that its own 15 to 20 minutes and treat it separately from your couple portraits, otherwise it quietly swallows the lot.
For one or two locations close together, plan for one good spot done properly rather than three done in a rush. Werribee Park is the obvious local hero and worth checking the current permit details directly with Parks Victoria before the day. The thing only a shooter will tell you is that light matters more than location: late afternoon, that soft hour or so before sunset, will do more for your photos than any backdrop, so if you can nudge your timeline so portraits land then, do it.
One last practical note. Whoever you book, ask who actually edits your images afterwards. We edit every photo and film in-house ourselves rather than sending it offshore, which means the look you fall in love with in the portfolio is the look you actually get back. Best of luck with the planning.

I don't know Melbourne at all but why not do a quick google search of "Wedding Photos Melbourne" or whatever spots you may think of. Also have a good look through other photographers portfolio and if you see something you love then ask where the location was.
You will find your photographer will also have a few favourite spots that they would be more than happy to suggest.
Happy planning!

Hi there
Well for your location shoot timings it is best to sort this out with the photographer. But from my 17 years experience shooting weddings across Melboune I find you need to allocate 45-60 mins at each location. I always sort these kinds of things out in my intital Photography meeting with the client. Remember too you need to allow time for parking and sometimes it takes longer for the photographer to park and transport his/her gear. Around the CBD area of Melbourne there are many great spots but before you jump in ask yourself do I want Beach shots, Candid contempory shots ( ie along Docklands ) or more traditional shots, ( Fitzroy gardens) or perhaps around South Melb Town Hall. The big issue in Melb is parking. I hope this is of help?
Hi Madison,
I would say a minimum of 1 hour then add travel time on. It always seems to take longer to get through Werribee than you would think especially with long weekend traffic. How far is the reception from the ceremony location? Or is it all in one place? If the ceremony and reception are all at the same venue, you won't need to worry about travel time. Also style of photography can dictate how quick the photographer is too. However, it's always better not to rush, you don't want to look stressed in your wedding photos.
Cheers
Hi Madison,
For location photos you normally need 1 hour at least and 1.5 - 2 hours would be ideal. Werribee park (mansion) is a really good place for photos but there is a permit required. I think the cost is $63.20 (need to confirm).
Thanks

Hi Madison,
You always want to have a little time up your sleeve as if the ceremony goes longer than expected, your locations time is reduced. Normally a couple of hours if you're just at one or two locations without too much travel in between. Werribee mansion is a great spot for photos in that area.
Hope this helps.

Hi Madison,
I always aim to have about an hour for bridal portraits but it depends on how much travel there is in between. The more you have to travel the more time that should be given for bridal portraits as you want to have time to enjoy and not feel rushed to get them done.
If you are in Werribee, the Mansion is always a great place to have your photos taken. Red Cliffs is another place to consider and depending if you wanted to even the Zoo would be amazing.
I hope your wedding planning is coming along nicely :)
