Do you provide your own audio equipment?

Yes we do!

We use a very high quality sound system with a digitial mixer which means we can control every single aspect of sound that most analagoue mixers do not have the space to accomodate for. 

Think of this as having all the controls of a recording studio at the touch of your fingers through an ipad!

This means we have incredible control of sound quality and take up less space doing so.

What makes you different to other all the other duos out there?

Having a live duo that has a unique sound is a sure way to set your big day apart from everyone elses!

There are a lot of great duos out there but what makes us (Kahuna) different is our combination of instruments and arrangement of songs.

There aren't currently many established piano and guitar duos like us  and not many in which both members of the duo sing lead or even sing together in harmony. 

This makes a massive difference as whilst having a single voice carry a song is undoubtedly beautiful, adding a blend of two different vocal tones  brings a whole other range dynamics to the music being performed.

We are not a typical cookie cutter, play the song as it was recorded by the artist style of duo.

We are both creatives and have our own sound and take on each song we play. We make it our own and by doing so make each song unique to your day!

We have found that a lot of special moment songs that we are asked to learn are unique arrangmemts by artists that are totally different to the original and this is something you can expect from us!

There is no power at my ceremony, can you still perform?

Yes we can still perform! 

Quite a few ceremony locations do not have access to power, in which case we bring along a battery powered amp so you and all your guests can enjoy the music.

My ceremony and canapes are in a different location to the reception, are you able to play at both?

Yes of course we can still play at both! However we are able to perfrom at both granted there is enough time to get from one location to the next - usually 45 minutes.

How much notice do you need to learn songs for my special moments?

We ask that we recieve at 3-4 weeks notice so that we can learn and arrange the song to the best of our abilities.

Is there extra cost to learn songs specifically for our day?

We offer 3 FREE songs learnt for your special moments during the ceremony, these are:

  1. Walking down the aisle
  2. Signing of the registry
  3. Exiting as a married couple

Any additional songs that we are required to learn have an additional cost of $50 per song. 

If you have booked us for the full day you may like to use your 3 songs over ceremony and reception, depending on which moments are most important for you -  such as:

  1. Walking down the aisle
  2. Exiting as a married couple
  3. First dance

Another instance may be if you are only booking us for canapes and recpetion, you still have the options of 3 FREE songs that can be played either for your entrance or the all important first dance.

Are you available as a trio or a band?

Yes we are!

We normally perform till the end of dinner as a duo in which a Dj may take over or you may plug your own music into the house system (depending on what you have booked).

For smaller weddings we are able to perform the dance portion of the night but for weddings with more guests a trio or band is a great way to get your guests dancing!

We usually bring on a drummer to ensure the music is as upbeat and livley as possible. 

Along with a tradtional band setting we also offer an acoustic band which is a great option if you are looking for sophistication with the sound of a full band. 

Our trio and band options are totally up to you!

Do you travel for weddings? If so how far?

Yes we do travel and can travel anywhere! We are based in Sydney but often perform at weddings that are hours away.

For weddings outside of Sydney, travel and accomodation fees may be applicable depending on location and times you would like us for your big day.

 

 

Do you guys travel overseas?

Yes we do!! Any reason to travel we are so happy to do so!

We have been asked a few times, whether its New Zealand, Thailand or even the Maldives (yes how lucky are we!) we would love to provide the soundtrack to your special day.

Are you guys the DJ or do you have someone else?

At the moment we are leaving the Dj portion to the professionals! We have a range of great Dj's that are highly experienced with wedding 'Dj-ing' to make sure your dance floor is pumping!

We are in the process of learning to Dj ourselves, we would like to get our experience up a bit more but definitely feel free to enquire about us doing the Dj portion if you are interested

Do you play continuously or do you have breaks?

We perform in 45 minute sets. For your ceremony we perform 30 minutes of pre ceremony music which flows into your walking down the aisle song. From there we perform your chosen song whilst you and your love sign the registry and make it official!

Most times one song is not long enough and we will continue playing until the formalities are complete and as your celebrant announces you both as a married couple we start playing your recessional song.

Canapes is normally an hour in which we perform 45 minutes and we put on music through a playlist for the extra 15. As there are two of us one person will continue playing whilst the other gets the playlist started so there are absolutley no gaps of silence.

For recepetion we perform 2 x 45 minute dinner sets, however the Dj will look after all of our break music.

We perform your first dance after which the Dj will come in with a tune to get the rest of your guests on the dancefloor with you so rest assured there are no awkward moments of silence!

Do you bring decorations decorations to each wedding?

We always bring our decorations with us, which include:

  • vines x 30m
  • fairy lights x 30m
  • glass hangers x 2

Our palm leaves boquets that you may have seen at expos and in photos are only brought along if you have requested them. 

We know when its appropriate to use certain pieces of our decorations and wont set up lights or vines when it clashes with your florals and decor that you have spent so much time getting perfect!
