Expert Advice

As a wedding professional, Thrive Flowers & Events offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.

What wedding flowers do I need?

Thrive Flowers & Events

Have a think about the suggestions below and start looking at Pinterest/Instagram for inspiration.

There are so many options out there, it can be overwhelming!

Perhaps chat to a Florist in person or on the phone to get a better idea.

Hope that helps!

If it's going to be 40 degrees on my wedding day, what kinds of flowers should I have?

Thrive Flowers & Events

Tropical and native flowers hold up the best in extreme heat.

If you have your heart set on softer flowers, it is still possible to have them last all day.

You will need to look after them a bit more than the natives/tropicals - see responses below - very helpful :)

Also - keep them out of direct sunlight as often as possible.

Is a large bouquet and a flowercrown too much?

Thrive Flowers & Events

Your wedding, your way!

If flowers make you feel special and bring you joy then go for it! There are actually no rules :)

If you're still not sure, one way to balance them out could be to have a more simple crown of greenery with a large colourful or pastel bouquet.

Hope this helps x

Can you do a combo silk and fresh floral crown?

I've been thinking of making a silk flower crown with the addition of a few favorite fresh flowers. Has anyone ever done this?

Thrive Flowers & Events

Yes! Anthing goes these days and a combintion can be a great way to go. Just make sure you're getting really good quality silks, so they blend in nicely. Good luck!

Hi there!

Flowers, just like dresses, can vary greatly with a huge number of variations on style, season etc.

A wedding of your size could cost betweeen $6,000-$8,000 including all set up and delivery fees as well.

This would sit comfortably between our Lux and Indulgence Service Packages.

What wedding flowers are best in full sun?

Thrive Flowers & Events

Hi there!

The safest bet would be Tropical flowers or Australian Natives, but in saying that, I've noticed your wedding is in August, so although there may be full sun, it's unlikely to be extremely hot, so most flowers, if they've been constructed well should be fine through-out the big day.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any more questions!

How much do bridal bouquets usually cost?

Is the main determining factor the size or the type of flowers?

Thrive Flowers & Events

It is really hard to give an exact price, however an average for seasonal assorted flowers in a standard size would be around $190.

Do my flowers have to suit my skintone?

Ie: warm tones for olive skin? Or is it far enough away from my face that it doesn't matter?

Thrive Flowers & Events

It is far enough from your face not to matter, however it might be a good idea to bring this up with your florist as certain flowers/colours can look different against some colours.

Is it actually possible to DIY wedding flowers?

I know it's an art, but I'm a perfectionist and also very crafty, and I'd like to do them myself

Thrive Flowers & Events

To DIY anything at your wedding adds such a unique touch and is quite special, especially the time spent doing any DIY project with friends or family. There are many online tutorials you could follow or if you are quite creative just give it a go! Many of our brides decide to DIY one or a few elements like perhaps the reception centrepieces and get us to make their bouquets or vice versa... I would suggest perhaps having a practice first. And also keep in mind that any time estimated may double, you need to allow plenty of time as the last thing you want is to stress yourself out. Hope that helps!
