Pre-reception canapes and drinks timing?
Our ceremony is at 3 pm, I'm guessing it will go for about an hour, and our reception starts at 6pm. Everything will be in the same place, so our guests will have around 2 hours ceremony and reception. One hour of pre-reception canapés and drinks is all we can afford. We thought that we could have the canapes between 4:30 and 5:30, that way the guests are only left doing "nothing" for 30 mins at a time. However, the wedding coordinator at our venue thinks its best to have the canapes 5pm - 6pm, as she thinks that having a drinks "break" of 30 mins before the reception is weird. I think it's weirder to have a whole hour in which the guests are doing nothing after the ceremony, but I could well be wrong. Thoughts?

4 answersHow long should a cocktail reception last?
My fiancé and i are planning a cocktail style wedding reception and are really worried that people might get bored! Not sure how much small talk people can really make?! We will have a dance floor, plus a guest book to sign, 'marriage advice' to give/wedlibs that sort of thing - as well as having cake cutting and first dance etc - but really how long is safe? We are currently thinking 4 hours..... We just don't want out guests to be bored!!!!

11 answersHow old is the cut off for kids meals?
Since kids meals are cheaper, how old does a child have to be before I have to pay for an adult meal for them? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth inviting children at all if I have to pay for expensive meals they probably won't even enjoy.
