We all love our wedding dresses and it’s such a pity you only get to wear it once. Well, unless you’re New Jersey bride Jennifer Salvage who has worn her beloved wedding gown a whopping 148 times in 19 countries … and counting.
Jennifer married photographer Jeff Salvage on Easter Island in 2008 in a gorgeous $400 lace wedding dress and, since then, they – and the dress – have been travelling the world.
In the five years since they were wed, they’ve been everywhere from Italy and China to Egypt and Peru and they’ve taken photos of Jennifer in her wedding gown at every location.
Jennifer has snorkeled in Hawaii in the dress, she has scaled a volcano, played basketball and even ridden horses in it – and the dress remains crisp white, ready for its next adventure.
She’s been dog-sledding in the dress, played hockey and basketball and has gone paragliding in the gown, as well as bungee jumping.
“There was the idea that it’s kind of a shame only to wear it once,” Jennifer told WGNTV and we didn’t like the idea of trashing the dress.
“We had a lot of great travel plans,” she adds, “and so we thought, ‘why don’t we keep taking the dress along and keep taking great iconic shots?'”
And they have.
Jeff told Good Morning America, “We took these really extravagant wedding dress pictures during the wedding and just really loved the idea of not letting the wedding die.”
The couple have documented their wedding dress adventures in a coffee table book that is currently sold out on amazon.com.
Their next stops are Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand but before then, they’re going to do a zero-gravity photo shoot and, this time, Jeff will be joining Jennifer and will be wearing his wedding tux.
