AFL champ Gary Ablett Jnr has married his fiancee of six months, Jordan Papalia, in a romantic  New Year’s Day wedding ceremony.

The Gold Coast Suns captain and dual Brownlow medallist wed his girlfriend of two years in a surprise Yarra Valley ceremony.

The night before, Ablett Jnr posted the picture below with the cryptic caption: “New Year’s Eve 2015 – closing out the year and finishing a chapter of my life and tomorrow the best one yet begins.”

Among the guests were Gary Ablett Snr and former Geelong teammates Cameron Ling,  Jason Davenport and Jimmy Bartel. Also present was The Voice contestant Michael Paynter who is married to the bride’s sister, Keinzley.

The bride, 23, wore a stunning, pure white halter neck J’Aton gown which featured intricate mesh-inspired detail on the delicate organza fabric.  Her hair was swept up into a tight ponytail and she completed her bridal look with a cathedral-length veil. The groom, 31, and his groomsmen opted for elegant blue suits with matching bow ties.

For the reception Jordan changed into a second J’Aton wedding dress which was much more figure-hugging than the first. The white dress featured bold splays of embellishment curved around striking cut-outs, with a large diagonal cut-out running across her chest and a sexy thigh-high split which showed off her toned legs. The made-to-measure gown had a plunging low back and flowing floor-length sleeves which split at her shoulder and elbow, adding a ’70s style twist to the couture frock.
