Bridal showers are a lot of fun when the person hosting the party chooses the correct activities. On the other hand, there is the possibility for a slight bit of awkwardness if some of the people in attendance do not know one another. In this case, it is important to have activities that will serve as icebreakers. Here is a list of 10 different bridal shower games that are sure to be a hit.
Toilet paper gowns
A classic hen’s night or kitchen tea game is to break your guests into small groups and have each of them create a make-shift wedding gown from rolls of toilet paper or garbage bags. It’s so much fun and the gowns don’t have to look like the one above, which is from an annual (and seriously professional) toilet paper wedding dress competition held in Las Vegas each year.
This game starts with the bridal shower invitations. Ask each person to write down their favorite memory related to the bride, the groom, or the couple. Collect the cards as people arrive and keep them together. During the bridal shower have someone read the memories and see if the bride or the groom, if in attendance, can figure out who shared the particular memory.
Bridal bingo is much like the traditional bingo with one exception; everything on the bingo card is wedding related. Search the web and find a bingo card template that you can customize to your liking. Pass out boards and markers to your guests and call out your Items as listed on the bingo card. For example, you might have to call out “O – Happiness,” or “I – I Do.” The first person to fill a row calls out “BINGO,” and wins a prize.
This game, specifically the toilet paper bridal gown, is a standard at most bridal showers because it is SO MUCH FUN! Either you can have the guests make a toilet paper gown on the bride, or each of the guests can create their own toilet paper gown. Set a time limit if you wish, or let everyone fix their gowns then everyone can create the bridal gown afterwards. Wear the toilet paper gowns for the duration of the party. Be sure to stock up on plenty of toilet paper for this game.
Take wool, tell a tale
This is a great icebreaker. As everyone arrives, give them a ball of wool and ask them to take a piece as long or as short as they want. Regardless of how many times they ask what it is for, do not tell them. Once all the guests have arrived, have their wool and are seated, explain to them the purpose of the yarn. They are to talk about themselves for as long as it takes to wrap their piece of yarn around their finger. This is a great way to get to know each other.
Two truths, one lie
With this game, everyone gets the chance to get to know each other better. The idea is for each person to tell three different stories or experiences that they share with the bride or groom. The trick, one of the stories is not true. Once the stories are told have the other guests determine which stories are true and which are not.
This is a straightforward game. Start with the bride-to-be and ask her to tell her first kiss story. I might be sweet, it might be funny, and whatever it is have everyone share. Once the last person has told their tale, take a vote as to whose story was the most romantic, the best kiss, the worst kiss, or the funniest etc.
Give each of your guests a clothespin upon arrival. For the first variation of the game, provide your guests with the list of “buzz words” that you have created; this can include words like ‘wedding,’ ‘bride,’ ‘honeymoon,’ or ‘groom.’ A tricky way to play is to include the groom’s name! When someone says a buzz word, another guest can call them out and take their clothespin. The winner of either game is the person with the most clothespins.
Honeymoon scavenger hunt (A little risqué fun)
Everyone loves a good scavenger hunt. For this version take it up a notch and make it a honeymoon themed hunt. Hide risqué or sexy items your guests have to find. Include things like edible body paint, lace panties, a whip, fuzzy handcuffs, and any other sexy items you can think of including. Divide your guests into teams and give them the list of items. Whichever team finds the most items wins!
Wooden spoon messages
This is a fun game that will also provide some giggles as well as great advice. Purchase a bunch of wooden spoons and permanent markers. Pass them out to the guests and ask them to provide their best marriage tip on the wooden spoon anonymously. Once done collect all the spoons and read them aloud. You are guaranteed to collect real advice and some funny comments. You can even award prizes to the person that the bride believes provided the best tip.
