About

Hi! I'm Jeni. After graduating from WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) and touring the world with various dance companies, I came back home to Sydney to ‘settle down’. Luckily for me, I met the partner of my dreams and have been happily married since 2015. I've always loved choreography and teaching, but creating our first dance together showed me just how meaningful this moment could be for others. If you are thinking about performing on your special day, make it memorable!

If you're not sure if you need or want dance lessons, or if you think that you'd only like to learn a few simple dance moves, we understand.

At The Wedding Dancer, we offer a single lesson where you can choose to learn a few simple steps, or we can learn your song prior to the lession and tailor steps to the music - this often helps you remember it on the night!

Single Private Lesson ‘Express Session’  $175 (With tailored choreography $300 for Easy Weddings customers, usually $350)

“The Express Session is perfect for couple like us who just wanted to learn a few steps to go with our song, so we looked like we knew what we were doing on the dance floor!

We travel a lot so it was great we could do everything in one night”.

Exclusive Offer
The First Step Package

We want you to feel as comfortable as possible when it comes to choosing an instructor, learning your dance, and even choosing your package. Our 'first step' (and showcase) packages each start with an initial consultation over coffee to understand your vision, song choice, and comfort level - (our shout, of course!) It's important we get to know each other before any lessons take place.

Your package includes custom choreography tailored to your skill level and style and we recommend 3-4 private sessions to get you looking like a pro on the dance floor!

There's tonnes of support available like video recordings to practice with, phone check ins and final rehearsals in shoes and dance floor mapped out.
Packages are fully flexible and start at $500 depending on number of lessons and difficulty of choreography.

FAQ

Not at all. If it causes you any type of anxiety or stress, we don't recommend it. You want your day to be as fun and carefree as possible!
However, if you are on the fence of thinking it could be something you'd like to try, we are here to help you and want you to understand the full process over coffee before you commit to anything.

Have you thought about that 'moment' on the dance floor? It can be so special and something you will reflect on forever.

Our Express sessions start from as little as $175.

We aim to create packages to suit every budget. We get it - weddings are expensive! We want you to have all the pieces of the day (including a great dance) at a price you can afford. Have you put your budget together already?

Our first consultation is completely free and we can talk through options.

Check out our website for more information: www.theweddingdancer.com.au

Every couple is different and we decide how may lessons you need based on your level of expertise, your song choice (which helps determine the style) and your budget.

We come to you which saves time and will work around you.

Our average package includes four lessons.

Have you thought about what style you might like to do?

We can work in most spaces of a home, or even a garden, however if we need to organise a studio space, this is something that is easily done. The main reason that we prefer to come to you, is to save you time and money.

A client asked the other day, "can you do fun and silly?" and I responded with, "that's actually my specialty!"

While our dance teachers cover all styles of ballroom (i.e. waltz, tango etc), we love to teach styles that really reflect the couple like disco, jazz, hip hop, 'the daggy dance' and all things easy and fun!

We can also learn anything you've seen on social media or video and help you learn it. There's no style we can't teach!

Our choreography is unique for each couple, and we want it to stay that way.

By publishing video footage online, we risk it being copied and reused without our permission, or payment. We can share videos with you in person.

May 2026

My husband and I used The Wedding Dancer for our wedding. Jen designed the perfect dance for us with a mixture of romance, love and fun. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and made us feel so comfortable and confident. I would highly recommend using Jen for your wedding!!

Thank you so much Emily for your lovely words. You and Anthony were so much fun and I still smile when I hear your Backstreet Boys song. I hope you're both well.

April 2026

I can't recommend the team at The Wedding Dancer enough. From our first meeting, I knew we were in good hands. There was no pressure to be perfect - it was all about having fun. We laughed so much. Our dance teacher was so flexible, we had all our lessons after work which relieved so much pressure. I was worried about booking a dance school, so it was nice that we didn't have to. On the night, we were so surprised at how well it went (we are NOT dancers!) and we remembered almost every step. It was a big hit and whenever we hear our song, it brings back fond memories. Would highly recommend!!

The Wedding Dancer

Wow - Thank you Helen. What a lovely thing to say. You can't say you're not dancers anymore! It was so much fun, and I remember leaving one of our lessons with my face hurting from smiling so much. You chose a great song and I'm so glad it brings you joy when you hear it. That's the best bit. Congrats again x

April 2026

My husband and I weren't sure if we were going to dance or not at our wedding, but we thought we'd meet with Jeni and find out more information. She never pressured us into making a commitment. We loved that she met with us for coffee and explained the process in detail which made us feel so comfortable and 4 weeks later we had an amazing dance that we found really easy to do and perform on our wedding day. Our guests were so shocked that we did it and were talking about it for weeks afterwards, it really was one of the best parts of the night. We would highly recommend.

Michelle J.

The Wedding Dancer

Oh Michelle, you're too kind! You were amazing and so easy to teach. I'm so glad you have fond memories of it as I know you were nervous. Congratulations on your beautiful wedding and I hope to cross paths with you again one day.

August 2026

We loved working with Jeni! She was so generous with her time and skills and choreographed a whole wedding dance that we could easily pick up in a session despite having no pre-existing dance skills! She also worked with us to create something we loved! Such a warm and bubbly personality - wonderful vibes and just what we needed in the lead up to our wedding. She also made us feel at ease when we felt a bit silly to start. Thank you so much Jeni!!

May 2026

We had the absolute best experience with Jeni. She came to our house and also worked with us for revisions over Zoom, which made everything so easy and flexible. We had a pretty hectic time with a 6-month-old baby, but she was so calm, patient, and understanding the whole way through. Never once made us feel stressed or behind—just kept things relaxed and enjoyable. We went from having no idea what we were doing to feeling confident and actually looking forward to our first dance. Couldn’t recommend her enough!

Heather R.

The Wedding Dancer

Heather, that is so lovely - Thank you. It feels like a while ago now - but it was so much fun, we danced in the lounge, the patio, the garden - and online, making time between sleeps - I don't know how you did it! Your song is still one of my favourites. Juno is such a great movie with an excellent soundtrack - you chose well. It really reflected you and Jack, and your personalities. Thank you for the fun memories and trusting me with your routine. You both did so well on the night!

Is it okay to skip the dance floor at our wedding?

We are planning a restaurant reception for 100 guests but neither of us likes to dance, and our families aren't big on it either. We want the night to feel like a dinner party focused on great food rather than a traditional party. We are considering replacing the dance floor with a dedicated conversation lounge or a space for our live illustrator, but we want to make sure the evening still feels celebratory and not just like a quiet dinner.

The Wedding Dancer

This sounds like a great idea and very unique. I'm certainly someone who loves to enjoy great food and relax, and you want it to be your night.

My only thoughts would be that, although you and your family aren't into dancing, you will have 50 - 75% of guests who may expect/ want a boogie on the dance floor after the formalities are over. It might be nice to have a small area for dancing - but it doesn't need to take over the whole restaurant. Perhaps - depending on the venue - you could have two 'zones'?

Regardless, music is really important at a wedding and can change the mood, so be sure - even if you're 'chilling out' to keep it upbeat and fun as people are there to celebrate, after all!

Bets of luck.
