There are a few areas where you can save significantly without your guests ever noticing:
Party favours are one of the easiest cuts! The vast majority end up left on tables or thrown away so skip them entirely or do something small and put that money somewhere guests will actually feel.
Florals are another big one; fresh arrangements from a florist carry a hefty price tag but high-quality artificial flowers have come a long way and most guests genuinely won't tell the difference, especially in photos. Consider hiring a selection of silk arrangements and you'll notice the difference in price but not in quality.
Finally, dessert doesn't need to be a three-tier custom cake or the 3rd course which people don't eat in the end - a dessert table with a mix of treats, a simple cutting cake, or even a beautifully presented option from a local bakery can cost a fraction of the price and often goes down better with guests anyway.
The golden rule is to protect the things people will remember - great food, good music, and a brilliant photographer and let go of the things that look impressive on a mood board but barely register on the day!!
You can definitely cut corners by doing a lot yourself! ??

It can also be really beneficial to get a planner. While it does come at a cost, we can suggest companies that best suit you and they can often help with industry discounts and money-saving opportunities too :)

If you're planning a wedding on a budget, the key is to use up your budget on the things that matter most to you and your guests. Great food, a fun vibe, and celebrating with the people you love, far more important than the small details.
Here are the areas where you can save money:
Other Ways to Save Money!
1. Reduce the guest list
The fastest way to lower your budget is to invite fewer people.
2. Choose an off-peak date
Friday evenings, Sundays, winter months, and non-holiday periods often attract significantly lower venue and supplier pricing.
3. Prioritise your spending
Choose your top three priorities (such as photography, food, or music) and allocate more of your budget there while spending less on other areas.
4. Combine ceremony and reception venues
This reduces transport costs, styling duplication, and logistical expenses.
5. Repurpose flowers and styling
Ceremony arrangements can be moved to the reception space, and bridal party bouquets can double as table decorations.
6. Smaller wedding cake
A simple cutting cake is all that is needed especially for the “cutting the cake”photo opportunity.
Focus on creating a great experience rather than trying to recreate everything you've seen on social media. A wedding doesn't need every trend, upgrade, or extra to feel special, often the simplest celebrations are the most meaningful.
Wishing you all the best with your wedding preparations!
