I'm unsure when all the formalities should occur. Our reception is a sit-down dinner and we wish to include all the standard traditions, but want it to have a good flow and make sure theirs lots of dancing opportunities and fun! Our reception will last 6 hours including canapés. Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your wedding ! How exciting indeed ! :) We plan and coordinate weddings throughout Australia and have launched many successful weddings.
There isn't a defined timeline for weddings. It's your day so have it your way !
Generally, most bridal couples opt for this pattern for reception
Grand Entrance
Speeches
First Dance
Cake Cutting
More speeches (if required)
All between meals - starters, main and desserts.
Feel free to send us an email at luxxweddingevents@gmail.com to share your vision and we shall be more than happy to assist in coordinating or creating your dream wedding ! xx

Hello "Bride" to be,
Dont panic most couples are a little confused when it comes to the wedding day 'timeline' and run sheet/s.
Strictly speaking your time line should start from the minute you and the bridal party wake and start your prep - do not forget the groom and groomsmen prep and process here too.
This includes time lines for the make up and hair artisans, photographer and videographer, transport, the travel time to the ceremony site, photography etal at the ceremony site , transport times and procession to the recepetion and then the 'run sheet' for the reception which is vital to ensure the venue and staff , bridal party , suppliers , vendors and your guests know exactly how you wish your 'schedule' to run.
Music - no matter if its a 'live' band or 'recorded' or a mix of both is a key factor in the 'time line' and 'run sheet' as the music directs tempo, pace and flow of the reception from your guests arrival to your grand entrance, through to the food and beverage servery, the first dance, cake cutting and fianlly the departure.
If you have not partnered with a wedding planner for the 'planning' phase you can still contact a wedding planner of choice for options as to an 'on the day coordination' service or simply a 'consulting service' - by hourly rate to help you sort out the days timeline and critical 'run sheet'. The wedding planner can brief the MC too.
Hope this information is helpful to you and your partner - for more wedding planning tips you can check out our 'blog/s on our website or even call us at LUXE.
Have a truly wonderful and unforgettable day.
Cheers,

HI and a huge congrats on your engagement!
We agree that your reception is basically about having a great big celebration and fun with your guests after the ceremony is over. It is totally up to you how you plan the evening but our advice would be to get the speeches over really early in the reception and then intersperse the dancing with all your traditions which allows the guests time to have a break from dancing, a great laugh and some fun, and then back onto the dance floor.
Feel free to contact us for further advice.
Happy planning

Hi and Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
Nowadays there is no real formal structure in how you want the wedding reception run sheet to operate. In general given you have a 6 hour reception and depending on your numbers to the reception the reception place should be able to help you manage this ot ensure you get all the formalities done before or the end of dessert while allowing enough time for dancing and socialising.
Hope this helps
