You can absolutely pay for your own wedding without your parents help, I did!
If you are going to pay for your wedding yourself then make sure you set yourself a budget. There are lots of templates you can find online. Add your approximate amounts you would like to spend on each item E.G. wedding dress/catering/flowers etc...
Dont let the total amount overwhelm you, take each item as it comes. Moving forward you will know which items you want to spend more on and which items you are happy to cut back on.
You can certainly still have the wedding of your dreams without any outside financial help.

Hi there,
This is always a tricky one! However the fact that your invite was specifically only for them and they added a plus one themselves is a little cheeky!
These situations always warrant a telephone call. Explain to them that the invite was specifically for them and a plus one was not included. If they ask why you can say it's because of catering requirements and the venues maximum numbers allowance.
If they respect you they will completely understand. If they get annoyed then they can decide to not come and that will be their loss at the end of the day.
