Hi Caroline,

Just a quick tip about ceremony music... when you're choosing a processional piece, try to find something that is a good pace for walking, (in my opinion slower songs work better than upbeat ones). Feel free to contact me for a list of suggestions.

The register signing is the longest part of the ceremony for music, you'll have between 3 and 5 minutes of signing and photos. This is a great time for a favorite song to be played, something that's meaningful to you and your partner. In my experience, anything with a gentle mood will work well for the signing.

The recessional piece (as you walk back down the aisle together) is a great time for something upbeat and celebratory. Your guests will most likely be clapping and cheering so it's more about finding something that suits this mood, rather than the lyrics of the song which will probably be drowned out!

All the best for your wedding

Dave

Choosing the perfect song for your aisle walk is all about matching the moment to your vibe something modern but still emotional can make it really memorable. You can go for a contemporary cover of the classic Wedding March or a stripped-back acoustic version of a favourite pop or indie song that fits your style.

For the rest of the ceremony, think about 3 key moments: prelude (guests arriving), processional (bridal party) and signing/recessional. Each can have its own style soft and ambient for the prelude, meaningful and uplifting for the processional, and something upbeat and celebratory for the recessional.

Melbourne Entertainment Company has a great resource for this: check out their Top 40 Walking Down the Aisle Wedding Ceremony Songs blog. It’s perfect for discovering modern, instrumental, and sentimental tracks that suit every ceremony moment, from your entrance to the final cheer.

Hi Caroline,

By 'wedding march', do you mean Pachelbel's Canon?

If you had a live band perform this, it would sound unique and modern (very different to the string quartet version!)

Alternatively, we offer a custom songwriting service. You can pick a style of music and some themes/ideas/lyrics and have a song tailor made just for you.

There are also so many Spotify wedding music playlists out there (google 'most popular wedding songs globally on Spotify), but remember, nothing beats having live music!

Hope this helps,

Peter

This is very much a personal choice.

I would start with choosing between something traditional or modern, and go from there.

A couple things to consider is length and tempo. Do you have enough music for you and your bridal party to make it down the isle in time? Is the song a good pace to walk to?

If you have the song done live you have the advantage that the musicians can continue playing until you are ready, if need be.

More than happy to suggest songs to walk down the aisle and the rest of the ceremony.

Hey Caroline

Here you go -

For the rest of your ceremony, have a look on YouTube for playlists by Boyce Avenue, The Piano Guys or Vitamin String Quartet.

Good luck!

Hi Caroline

It's a really difficult decision isn't it?

Here are a few questions to ask yourself that might help nail down the answer.

  • Have you considered songs that you both love?
  • Would you prefer recorded or live music?

You can do anything these days from Adele, to Mendelssohn, there are no hard and fast rules, do what makes you happy.

If you don't have a special song, google wedding songs and you'll get 1,000's of ideas.

I like the idea of a classic love song as you walk down the aisle, like "At Last", then something current while you sign the registry, (keeps your guests amused while you're signing the papers), and finally a classical piece for your exit, like Mendelssohn's wedding march, or Vivaldi's "Spring".

I hope this is helpful, and have a beautiful day

Dominique

Hi Caroline. Thanks for your inquiry. By modern do you have a particular style in mind. My guitar instrumentals are all on an amplified steel string guitar. Is this the sort of thing you are looking for or are you looking for more of a hard rock / heavy metal version ? I have also played other instrumental tracks such as Can You feel the love tonight as brides have walked the aisle. My standard package is around 30 minutes of instrumental guitar prior to the ceremony, an aisle song and 10 or so minutes of instrumental guitar during the signing ceremony. My instrumentals are generally a mix of pop/rock songs and classical tunes that have been arranged for fingerstyle guitar. Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Caroline,

I'd go against the grain here and not make any suggestions for you. Instead, I'd ask you: what songs do you love?

Weddings have changed so much that we now all expect to put ourselves into the ceremony. We choose a celebrant to reflect ourselves, we write our own vows, we choose the location, the dress and suit, the flowers ... So, why should the music be any different?

Is there a song you both love? Something that makes you both remember a certain period of time together? Something you've both just discovered and could become your song? (It certainly will after you include it in your ceremony!) If you've hired great musicians, they'll be able to perform your choice live for you in an intimate and moving way. It won't sound exactly like the original recording, but that's a good thing because you are unique and the day is unique.

For the rest of the ceremony: let your favourites dictate the music. There's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't!

Cheers,

Tom
