Hi Caroline. Thanks for your inquiry. By modern do you have a particular style in mind. My guitar instrumentals are all on an amplified steel string guitar. Is this the sort of thing you are looking for or are you looking for more of a hard rock / heavy metal version ? I have also played other instrumental tracks such as Can You feel the love tonight as brides have walked the aisle. My standard package is around 30 minutes of instrumental guitar prior to the ceremony, an aisle song and 10 or so minutes of instrumental guitar during the signing ceremony. My instrumentals are generally a mix of pop/rock songs and classical tunes that have been arranged for fingerstyle guitar. Hope that helps.

Wedding audiences have a number of unique factors that are not found elsewhere. A pub,corporate musician or dj generally plays to audiences with clearly defined demographics such as age group and musical tastes. Weddings may have people from a wide range of age groups with a wide variety in musical tastes. Most Grandmothers, for example, will not share the same basic musical tastes as 80s rock fans or millennial Bieber fans. The music you choose must be capable of entertaining all of these different types of people as well as fitting the requirements of the bride and groom. People with experience at weddings are more likely to be able to give you suitable advice for your wedding needs. Quite simply we know our customer base better.

Hi Roxanne. I think it is a good idea to give this some serious considerations. In my opinion it is a case of horses for courses. I play low key instrumental guitar. Low key instrumental music is perfect for the ceremony when the focus needs to be on the bride, the groom and the romance of the ceremony. For the after party however you will normally want something my racy such as a rock band or dj. I am not sure what a band / dj charges out for a night but as a guide I charge between $200 to $400 to provide an instrumental backdrop for a wedding ceremony in and around Cairns. I think that is worthwhile to hire a dedicated instrumentalist for the ceremony. It is a fairly minimal expense if you want to add a real touch of elegance to your wedding, but again I am also biased.
