Cafe of the Gate of Salvation

Cafe of the Gate of Salvation is Australia’s premier a cappella gospel choir. The 40-strong voices have been singing in Australia for 25 years. Aiming to bring joy to audiences, the group is inspired by the passionate, spiritual and traditional African-American gospel music.

They have worked with such diverse artists as ‘Powderfinger’ and ‘The Blind Boys of Alabama’, as well performing for Nelson Mandela and at major music festivals. They have also toured in churches in New York’s Harlem, Alabama and New Orleans to wide critical acclaim. 

Gospel sheds an undeniable influence on R&B, funk and soul music; the method, dynamics and power behind the songs are undeniably moving. This is the essence of what Cafe of the Gate of Salvation aims to deliver in their performances and it’s this power that inspires the group to make the music they do. While the choir sings religious-based songs, choir members actually hold an eclectic mix of spiritual beliefs and are, above all, people who just love to sing!

Cafe of the Gate of Salvation will provide a truly unique Wedding experience for your guests who will be guaranteed to enjoy their fabulous sound, whether it be Soulful Spirituals or Roof-raisin’, Joyful Gospel.  The Repertoire can easily be included in the Wedding Ceremony itself or at the Wedding Reception afterwards.  Come along to one of our many performances to get a real 'Feel' for what we do.
