One of Australia's top event DJs saw an opportunity to shake up the wedding entertainment industry and create something very different to what was on offer. With Adam's background in project management, and help from pals Eden Dearlove (a marketing whiz, and fellow DJ with a side passion for carpentry) and musician and local legand Leighton Keepa, with a knack for finding new musical talent, ENVY is fast becoming Australia's #1 Boutique Wedding Entertainment Company.

Max was a super, fantastic MC and DJ. The right kind of music for the incredibly diverse crowd at all times. Thats a very hard thing to achieve so kudos to Max! He worked so well with our celebrant Sam to cue me, the bride in for synchronising the walk down the isle music, and timed the exit ceremony song with both of us so perfectly. Max got everyone up and dancing including a few who we've, in 20 years, never seen dance! He's got the the magic touch when it comes to being a first class DJ and besides which he is a genuinely nice guy!

Adam was our wedding DJ and he was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish, he brought such a fun, relaxed vibe that made the whole night unforgettable. His knowledge of music genres was spot-on, and the dance floor was packed all night—our feet still hurt from dancing! He read the room effortlessly, created the perfect flow, and made everything feel easy and natural. We’re not usually big dancers, but we barely left the floor, which says it all. Our guests are still raving. We wouldn’t change a thing—except to do it all again. We can’t recommend Adam and his team highly enough.

We worked with Envy Event Group for a few special details for our wedding day. - Fairy Light wall along the barrel wall at our venue. - Sparks and Clouds during our First Dance - Sparks during cake cutting and for other photo opportunities Adam was our initial contact and was excellent with communication and booking process. Rob helped to put all the details together on the evening and was extremely approachable and ensured he checked in with us to make sure things were exactly as we wanted.

What are the benefits of hiring a band or DJ over DIY music?

First of all DIY can be the correct option depending on your circumstances especially if budget is an issue.

The main benefits of having a band or DJ is you'll have a professional or group of professionals in control of your entertainment rather that random people who carelessly take over the operation of your music.

Bands have the unique abilty to interact with your guests whether thats being able to change up lyrics to respond spontaneously to whats happening in front of them.

Experienced DJ's can do something similar by playing a song that may match the moment.

The downsides to DIY music:

Not really understanding the dynamic natural of events can cause people to feel off
Theres ALWAYS soemone who will takeover the operation of your music whether YOU like their music or not
People who dont like a particular song will "CUT IT OFF" mid song event if everyone else is loving it
The flow is harder to maintain due to the sporadic nature of random people choosing songs
You'll end up spending more time "controlling" the music than enjoying it

The upsides:

Its almost free so you wont have to invest any budget into it. If music isnt a priority then this is ideal
You get the music you want played regardless if the DJ likes it or not
Less stress dealing with vendors
You can get guests to suggest songs via RSVP to build a playlist

Is it alright to have a daddy-daughter dance and then skip mother-son dance though mother wanted it?

Bride and dad had their emotional dance as I, the groom’s mother, was waiting beside the dance floor for my turn with my son. Father of the bride spoke and then said “Let’s Dance” to the guests. I had no idea there would not be a mother-son dance. I was devastated. It was very difficult for me to keep my composure for the rest of the evening. It was not a mistake according to the wedding planner and neither the bride nor her parents said they were sorry for hurting me. When my son learned I was hurt, he told me he didn’t know it would upset me so much and we could go on the dance floor now to dance. Let me also clarify that I was very generous to the couple as far as paying tens of thousands of dollars for the seated private club Rehearsal Dinner for 80+ and open bar Welcome Party at same venue, when I don’t even live in that city. I bought my son’s tux, I shared the Rehearsal Dinner flowers, and I gave my son money to help with expenses. Am I wrong to feel very hurt?

Its a tricky situation...

Generally (as in 98% of the time) mother/son dances don't happen for a few reasons. First and foremost is males don't understand the emotional impact of doing the dance. Secondly I'd say that because its not often done they arent even aware its a thing.

As someone thats entertained at hundreds of wedding receptions I personally do find it odd that the mother/son dance isnt really a thing in Australia.

In defence of your son and daughter inlaw I will say that the stress of wedding planning can leave them a bit absent minded to the smaller details that can have huge overall effect.

Lastly for mothers who are considering doing the dance in the future a simple inquiry with the to-be-weds may help you avoid this unfortunate and tricky situation.
