Is it OK to have a do-not-play list at our wedding?

Hi there. There are some songs I really don't want played at our wedding but I know some of my family will request it. Can I give our DJ a list of these songs - but how do they handle it with the guests? I don't want to offend anyone.

Craig Francis Music

Absolutely.

I always discuss this with our clients at the pre reception meeting.

Be mindful though that the more songs you cut out, the more you tie the hands of the band with DJ to read the crowd and respond to requests. You find other questions like this on our FAQ page (craigfrancismusic.com.au/faq/) and can also ask them at our monthly showcase (next 2 are: 9.8.22 and 13.9.22).

How to really experience a wedding band/DJ before booking

Hi there. Can we come and listen to a band or DJ at another wedding or event before we decide to book?

Craig Francis Music

Hi!

The best way to experience a band is to go to a live showcase. We hold them monthly and they are great opportunities to see the band live, talk with the band (if they are a band, not an agency) and discuss options.

Should I hire a band or a DJ?

Craig Francis Music

Why setlle for either? Craig Francis offers both in the one package :)

As a general rule, DJ and live music create different vibes and so it depends on the vibe you're after and what you think your guests will like. Live bands bring an element of elegance and performance that a DJ cannot and I always say Brassy is classy :P

What are some fun activities for the wedding reception?

Craig Francis Music

Hi,

Fun activities can be the fairly standard ones of photobooth, bridal games and dancing of course. But you can also create little competitions and ganes for your guests to join you in.

Good luck!

Craig Francis

Which goes first, the first dance or Father/Daughter dance? Thanks!

Craig Francis Music

Hi,

It can be either way. I think its great to go firsyt dance into father/daughter depending on where in the night you out both of them :)

I was wondering what are some good wedding songs?

Looking for some not so obvious ones.

Craig Francis Music

Hi Kim,

Good wedding songs depend on your family and friends and the moment you are talking about. For example, early in the evening over entrees and while guests are relaxing and enjoying their meals and drinks it might be good to include some jazz, soul and indie style tunes that your guests can listen to and enjoy at an easy volume. For later in the evening after formalities are done and you want teat
