About

I absolutely love what I do! From the first meeting to getting to be involved in such a special time in ones life & being apart of that day. Having worked with lots of different ethnicities, ages, skin types & being able to translate what you are after is where I work my magic. Capturing that first look once the brushes are down is my hype.

FAQ

A bridal trial is a great opportunity for you to be able to "road test" & "tweak" your makeup. You get to meet your artist that you probably have only been chatting to via email or the like, make sure that you feel comfortable with them & they can deliver your vision. It gives you the chance to play with a couple of different options & hone your look so that you are not wasting any time when the day arrives. Its a mixed bag of feelings & a big day at that, so you want to be able to sit in that chair, have complete & utter trust in your artist & enjoy the process. Never shy away from giving your artist feedback on changes you may want as they have all the expertise to make adjustments & sometimes things can get lost in translation. One persons version of natural makeup may not be the next persons etc. So once your at a happy place in your trial, you get to go home & show it off. But guess what folks? The trial has not ended there just because your home. You get to see how it looks in different light, you have had the chance to wear it for a few hours now, your bestie has given you her opinion & now you want to change something else. Let your artist know as soon as possible, if we don't know, we can't fix it!

There are lots of different reasons why a trial may not be possible for you. You are in a different location to your makeup artist as its a destination wedding. Your a super chill bride & have total trust in your artist. Or its just not feasible as you cannot schedule it in for one reason or another. Thats all OK, its not a compulsory service just a recommended service. You will have plenty of opportunity prior to the wedding to communicate with your artist on your needs & desires for your look. Sending some examples of unfiltered images that you like is a great place to start, looking at their work & picking some of their images also. Looking at images of makeup with similar skin tone & depth to you is always helpful as it gives you a better understanding of how a makeup look that you like will suit you. And trying to figure out parts of an image that you like/dislike & expressing that will help for you all to be on the same page.

Absolutely! This is something that can just happen when your trying to organise a bunch of people, but the sooner I know the better. There is normally a minimum number for bridal parties on weekends as you can appreciate it being peak times so if you fall below minimum numbers there is a small surcharge so that I can still provide the service to you as I would hate for you to miss out.

Yes I do. It does not matter what number you have, I can always look at getting a second artist in. I have a pool of artists that I communicate with regularly & we all help each other out. If this was the case for a second artist to be on site, we would need confirmation of numbers early to avoid you missing out on catering to everyone. Great communication is key to ensuring that the second artist can fulfill the brief, so I only pick artists that I trust backed with the proper training & experience.

There is always a backup plan if the inevitable was to happen. I would never want to leave you with the burden or the stress of having to deal with a situation like this. I maybe a one woman show but making sure all the bases are covered is the difference between hiring an amateur & a professional. As I said there is a pool of artists I communicate with regularly & we are always more than willing to help each other out.

Yes, I want you to sit back, relax & enjoy the experience by being in an environment that is most comfortable to you; sipping on champagne if thats your thing, having some tunes going to get the vibes up & being nice & close to where its all happening at. Part of being a mobile business is providing a bespoke experience where its as customised to you as possible. Your day should be filled with loads of love, laughter, your bride tribe, being pampered & as stress free as possible. With my service you get 100km roundtrip covered for free & after that the fee would then depend on any additional mileage travelled. You will get a customised quote upon enquiry.

My kit is a mix of high quality familiar retail & professional products that are designed for longevity & durability. I am completely Cruelty Free & alot of big name brands are on board these days as testing on animals is a redundant practise that is only enforced in China. There are far more ethical & effective ways of testing these days to deem a product safe that does not involve the harming of innocent fluffy creatures. I do my homework people as there is alot of confusion on this one & sometimes the only way to find out definitively is by 1 finding out if they sell in China & 2 by writing directly to the company. Thank goodness there are some great resources out there of a couple of websites that this all they do & it cuts out some of the leg work. Big retail cosmetics companies are finally realising how important this is, which is great for an artist like me as there is a large variety of high quality, high end & familiar products to stock in my kit that I bet you all love & know.

Cannot fault this artist. Genuinely saved the day for my friend’s wedding when the original Mua cancelled last minute. Electra came in and listened to everyone’s own preferences for makeup and had a lot of attention to detail for skin concerns and what would work best. She was absolutely incredible the makeup stayed all day/night and looked fantastic! Absolutely book her in if you can she’s also super fun to have around.

What's better - fake lashes or eyelash extensions?

Hi! Wondering what to do with my lashes for my wedding. Should I get eyelash extensions, or should I ask for false individual lashes? Is there a preference from a makeup artist's perspective too?

Electra Makeup Artist

Different strokes for different folks. Some makeup artists love them, some hate them. As a rule of thumb, if you have never had them before, do  not get them just before the wedding incase you have any sort of reaction to the glues used. If you like the look of them & have time to trial them prior then go for it....just don't go for the ones that completely block out your eye so you cant even see your eye makeup. There are lots of varieties of lashes with some drama that can still compliment your makeup. They have their own set of rules for maintenance so be aware of that but you will be able to go on your honeymoon with fabulous lashes if you get them. Saves time on day of makeup application also. Strip lashes/falsies/individuals whatever your preference, your makeup artist should have a decent variety to show you & suggest to you, to go with the makeup worn on the day & when doing a makeup trial, you will get to see the complete look together. Also, easy removal at end of day if your not used to wearing them & they can be kept to wear again another time. Remember to communicate with your artist for the day no matter what your choice.

When's the best time to start skin care for my wedding?

Can you recommend a simple routine to follow?

Electra Makeup Artist

As soon as possible. Your skin is the largest organ of the human body, therefore how you treat not only your skin but your mind & body, it will show.

The simplest most effective advice for taking care of the skin is to drink enough water, eat healthy & not too many processed foods(sugar, fat, alcohol, coffee) , exercise & get enough sleep. Be kind to yourself & your body as it can all show up on your skin...you know those pesky zits you get when your suddenly too stressed & binging on chocolate? I absolutely beleive in a holistic approach, so thinking about all these elements & not just treating topically. It can be a stressful time with all the planning of a wedding so thinking about incorporating some meditation or even just daily walks into your life to lower cortisol levels & get those good endorphins going is integral. Topically a basic cleanse & moisturise is sufficient, with a once a week exfollient(does not need to be top dollar just look for clean ingredients). Cleansing & moisturising will keep your skin at its optimum. And exfoliating will get rid of any unwanted dead skin cells that build up on the surface, you may not see them but sometimes you can feel that your skin is kind of gritty rather than smooth. This also helps ALOT with makeup application because if you dont do this, a makeup artist can definitely tell. As you start to apply makeup, it can get patchy & even start moving around these dead skin cells making your skin look like a hot mess(oily & dry all at the same time). Just don't leave this til the last minute to incorporate as you won't be doing yourself any favours, part of a simple routine is just giving yourself a bit of self love time everyday to help with slowing down!
