When should I get my waxing done before a makeup service?

If you are planning on having waxing done (eye brows, upper lip etc.) this should be scheduled at least a week or 3 days before the wedding or makeup service in case of irritation. Makeup won't sit well on a freshly waxed face.

What are some tips for me to look after my skin before an event?

There are a few things I can suggest. These are not limited to the following: drink plenty of water cleanse skin morning and night. If you skin feels dry after cleansing you might need to try a different cleanser moisturise. It's good to have a moisturiser with an SPF in it for the daytime, night creams don't require SPF

Hi I’m Kathryn, the makeup artist behind KM Makeup. Makeup is a real passion of mine and I absolutely love seeing my clients look come together. Especially on their wedding day.

I started KM Makeup in 2013 after completing the Certificate IV in Makeup and Diploma in Specialist Makeup from the Canberra Makeup Academy. I have continued my learnings through Val Garlands Mastered Makeup Course where my love for makeup has continued to flourish. I pride myself on continuous learning and trying out new techniques.

I am truly honoured and very humbled to be have been the winner of the 2022 Wedding Industry Award, presently finalist in the 2022 ROAR Awards and Local Business Awards. I have been the recipient of the Brides Choice Awards, Top 10 makeup artist in Canberra for 2019 and 2021. All these awards would not have been possible without my valued clients.

FAQ

Do you do bridal trials?

Yes I do bridal trials. They go for about 2 hours.

I don't know what look I want, can you help me?

Yes absolutely although having some sort of direction or general idea is essential. Being a visual person there is a difference in verbalising your idea and showing me. An idea of something natural might be another ladies overdone.

I'm not sure whether I like my makeup the way you did it

If you don't like it, tell me. It is best that you say it while we are there with my kit and brushes still out. A preview is for exactly this reason. As a makeup artist it is my job to ensure you are happy with the look created for your wedding day. If you are unsure about something we can tweak it. This is also why we schedule 2 hours for previews.

Are there additional service fees?

Applicable service fees will be added to the invoice as needed and if applicable.

Please ask for more details regarding travel and possible assistants.

What time before my ceremony should I be ready on my wedding day?

It's good to be read 45 mins before your ceremony. When factoring in timing also allow for travel time to the venue and a buffer as a just in case.

Kathryn did a brilliant job doing makeup for myself and four others on my wedding day. She was very considerate of the fact that we hadn't worn much make up and she made us all feel beautiful whilst still feeling like ourselves. Kathryn was also conscious of the colour scheme for the wedding and helped incorporate that in our make up. We had a small space with lots of people where we were getting ready and she was very accommodating and able to work effectively with the space we had. She was also kind enough to squeeze me in for a trial in the limited time that we had and her home studio is lovely and bright for this purpose. I highly recommend KMmakeup.
