Expert Advice

As a wedding professional, La Paparedda Catering offers expert advice to help couples plan their perfect day. Ask a question or read their expert advice.

Do wedding caterers provide plates?

Yes we provide plates. Biodegradable plates or you can also hire ceramic plates if you wish.

How many canapes per person for a wedding without a sit down meal?

We suggest 6-7 canapes to ensure your guests are provided with an adequate amount of food.

Are grazing tables a bad idea for summer?

It's never a bad idea for a grazing table!

We strongly suggest that if you do decide on a grazing table that it be under cover in a cool spot. If the grazing table has direct heat on it, cheeses and cured meats will start to melt and create moisture. This doesn't always look the best for photos but still tastes great. The other point to note is that if a grazing table is set outside, doesn't matter what time of year it is you'll always attract flies.

Do caterers let you taste their food before you book them?

Just wondering if it's standard to taste test a caterers cooking before you hire them. The food is SO important for my wedding and while the people I've been looking at LOOK good, how can I know they TASTE good too?

We specialise in grazing tables which usually consists of speciality cheeses and cured meats. We are very happy to design a mini platter to offer the bride and groom to try out the products they use.

What are good budget catering options?

I'm willing to spend up to $100 per person,. Help appreciated

Grazing tables fall within your budget however this would not include drinks. A grazing table suits for a cocktail style wedding which you can always add other options such as canapes.

What is your preferred dining style?

Not sure whether to do buffet, food truck style, sit down on cocktail! They all have their benefits and this is the one thing I am vague on

It all depends on you and your style and what sort of experience and memories you want to create on your special day.

Personally I prefer cocktail style weddings as it allows for your guests and yourself to mingle and talk to all of your guests. Sometimes this can be hard with a sit down meal as you have to make your way around to every table on the floor which amy only allow you to spend 2 minutes with that person.

Grazing tables allow for you and your guests to enjoy a bite to eat whilst also have the freedom to walk around, talk and interact with other guests as well as the bridal party.

Is it rude or unacceptable to only serve a main and wedding cake?

After quite a few issues with our first venue, we found a second venue that we love. Unfortunately they aren't able to cater to the late ceremony schedule we originally wanted. They have offered the solution of serving extra canapes before the ceremony but skipping the entree entirely so that the dining finishes within their time frame. Our guests will still get a choice of 2 mains and wedding cake for dessert with a fruit platter and cheese, but I don't know if it is rude not to have an entree. It feels weird to me to not serve an entree. Thank you.

I wouldn't say that it's rude, I would be more concerned that yourself and everyone else would go hungry if there was not enough food provided.

Grazing tables can be the perfect accompaniment to a wedding like yours. This will allow your guests to nibble on something light before and or after the ceremony.
