Does it cost more for cakes to have a New Year's Eve wedding?

Would we be looking at surcharges or different pricing for our wedding cake if our wedding was on nye?

The cake itself would not cost more, however as its technically a 'holiday' of sorts, your cake maker would ultimately need to decide wether it was worth potentially sacrificing their own celebrations in order to accommodate your wedding. Because of that, you are likely to be quoted with a surcharge (much like a restaruant on public holidays) or higher delivery fees because of this.

Hello, I personally do not charge extra for wedding cakes on NYE or other public holidays. All of my cakes are quoted individually, based on the amount of work and detail required, design, cake size, distance to the venue for delivery and decorations required.

HI there,

It really depends on the indavidual business themselves. I personally don't charge any extra, but I do know of other businesses that do. I would suggest reaching out to the businesses that you like & asking them directly.

Hello! Generally this time is taken off to enjoy a couple of days with friends and family over holiday season - so a surcharge would be expected if being provided from a shopfront. However home based bakers might be able to waive this fee if they wish as we tend to quote on all the factors of cake making indivually each time. Hope that helps x

Hi There,

Yes there will be surcharge for New Year Eve's wedding cake. We actually close after Christmas to mid of January. So pay overtime for staff to come and bake and decorate the cake.

Hi, Yes it would. We actually close for two weeks between Christmas and the first week of January. This means that we would have to either postpone holidays or pay staff overtime to come in bake and decorate and possibly deliver a cake too. Hope this helps with planning.

Angie :-)
