Specialising in wedding and celebration cakes, servicing Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and surrounds.
Firstly I am a mum to my beautiful 9 year old son.. and wife to my working husband (someone has to pay the bills).
Starting out my cake business was really by accident. I worked for many years as a project manager in the finance industry but during my maternity leave I re-ignited my passion for food and baking. Starting out small at home, my business quickly grew (with my first wedding cake featured in Sydney Brides and Cosmopolitan Brides) and I opened my first cake shop in Gladesville, Sydney in 2015.
My Gladesville store grew to be a highly regarded wedding and celebration cake business and we employed 7 staff and created close to 1000 cakes a year. We serviced many of Sydney's premier wedding venues and were featured in various wedding publications and media including the front cover of Modern Wedding Magazine, featured shoots with Vera Wang and a stint on Channel 7's Morning Show.
Due to my fathers cancer diagnosis in 2017 my family moved back to be with my parents in Brisbane in late 2017. Sadly my dad lost his fight in May 2019. Family is very important to me, and after taking some time I just couldn't keep away from creating cake and so "Cake by Susanne" was born. We are a specialist cake only business working from our fully registered and insured private studio in North Lakes creating custom naked, buttercream and fondant cakes.
All our cakes are lovingly baked fresh each week using premium ingredients. We decorate all our cakes fresh on the day and they are carefully delivered by Susanne herself.
About
Following my degree in commerce and computer science I spent 15+ years in senior management within leading financial organisations leading projects up to $20M. Looking for a change of career once my son was born I started creating cakes and more specifically wedding cakes. Over the past 9 years I have created thousands of wedding cakes and love the feeling of being involved in this incredibly special day for our couples.

Our Kitchen is Council Registred and appropriately insured. In addtion we operate under the QLD Wedding and Events Covid Safe Plan. We also have 2 large COVD Safe Perspex Boxes avaiable to our clients which allows your cakes to be safely displayed for your event in line with the current QLD Govt Restricitions regarding the open display of food.
Yes, all our cakes are made from scratch, using premium ingredients, no artificial flavours and are never frozen. For a Saturday cake: your cake will be baked on Thursday. It will sit in the fridge overnight wrapped in plastic to firm up the crumb. We then stack the cake and prepare the final finishes on Friday ready for decorating. The cake will then be freshly decorated on the Saturday prior to your pickup or delivery.
Yes, we cater to gluten free, dairy free, nut free, egg free and vegan.

Yes, all our Bridal Couples are welcom to book and complimentary and obligation free consultation and cake tasting. The tasting comprises a selection of 4 cakes and serves 2 guests.
Whilst it is a lot of fun to have a whole party of friends attend your cake tasting. We reccommend that you limit your invite list to your fiance and one or two other trusted members. We have a limited time to spend together and the best results for your wedding day will be reached if we can focus on your design. We provide complimentry cake for 2 guests and can seat 4 in total.

Every cake creator will have a range they're prepared to deliver. I have a wonderful cake fridge that I designed which allows me to deliver my cakes up to 3 tiers fully assembled in a food safe manner. They travel super cold in the back of my car up to 3 hours drive. I'm in Brisbane and only work with buttercream so I need to be able to manage really hot humid conditions and this has been an amazing solution. We charge time and tolls for delivery.
