I supply a host of samples but advise both bride and groom to use these as a last resort as vows should be from the heart.

I have done many vows about fishing and come unity ceremonies as well. Contact me through my website Treasured Ceremonies and I will help you.
Most Celebrants have a list of alternative personal vows for grooms. Personal vows need to flow from his heart or head and be meaningful at least to the Groom and hopefully to the Bride

Your first port of call, see what I did then, should be your celebrant. They are the person you are paying for advice, assistance and answers to your most pressing questions, issues and urgent matters. They should by their job desription be word-smiths, and have abilities to run with a theme you give them and create from scratch something suitable. After-all that is why you chose them, not because they were the cheapest (I hope) but because they displayed ability. Its now time to test that ability. Then if all else fails, return here and give us a crack at it, but you owe it to yourself, your beloved and importantly your celebrant to let them take a swing at it first, because it is their job to do so. Don't undermine them and don't under estimate them, unless they have given you reason to do so. Geoff and I recently wrote an article for Wedding & Bride magazine about writing person vows, much of the article stemmed from a blog post that I wrote that can be found here: https://wordpress.com/post/yourcelebrant.wordpress.com/514 Regards, Ron.

The twinkle in the corner of your eye reminds me of the incandescent sunlight reflected off the scales of a freshly caught fish .....
When I see you my heart races like the white caps on the waves in a storm, racing to the horizon, and to the future.
I promise that sometimes the seas will be spectacular and exciting and sometimes as calm and relaxing as a millpond, and there is nowhere I would rather be than on this boat, this relationship ....
Personal vows do need to be personal so its difficult to write them for someone else. There are great on line articles about getting you started with the task of writing vows. Probaly three things to include - the things that make you love him, the hopes you have together, and the promises you will make. They can be humorous and serious. As long as they are yours.
Your vows are a personal message to the one you love. It’s a really good idea to take a moment to sit and reflect about the person you are about to marry. Think about what brought you together, what makes your relationships so special and any significant moments that you have shared on your journey together. Think about what makes you both happy and what you hope for your future together.
There are no rules ...... so write, write and write. Scribble down all your thoughts. After a while read through and edit, edit, edit.
You can use humour to enhance you vows, but be careful not to include embarrassing moments or personal things that not everyone should really hear. Spare a thought for your audience, your family and friends will be there to share that moment when you express your true feelings. It will only last for about a minute, so make it magical and memorable and true reflection of you.

Yes I can, I have many fantastic ideas that I would like to share with you.
Lets reel him in etc, its all about the catch, hook line and sinker.... Endless possibilities...
Do you have a celebrant yet?
I would love to meet with you to discuss this further.

Hi, Is this the one you mean about the sail?
"I wish I could promise smooth sailing, but the winds aren’t mine to control. What I do promise is a ship built to carry you to safely, and sails to weather any storm."
It's lovely and heartfelt. Writing vows is trickier than it seems but it is wonderful to turn it into your vows, unique to you!
You can expand that theme- "I promise I will laugh with you in times of joy, that we will share our adventures on the high seas in our lives together."
Did you want to expand it into a theme of being captain and first mate, which then lends itself to your husband's vow "that you are the best catch of his life", "reel you in", "I knew it was love at first bite" and "I am the luckiest fisherman in the sea of love".
Have you checked out the article on this site "10 of the best wedding vows we've ever heard"?
But also play with the fishing theme for your wedding day. You could name the guests' tables after his favourite fish, use fishing rods as a wedding arch and there are some funny fishing themed cake toppers. You get the idea! Find the celebrant you want to work with for your ceremony as their job is to help you. Good luck and have a wonderful day you enjoy!

Vows do not have to be mushy, they should be fun, things you like or dislike about each other but you will state to overcome in time.
