Get Expert AdviceCan I get married in both a religious and civil ceremony?
My fiance is muslim and I am catholic, we want to respect the mother and have a 'Katb al kitab' but this happens on a different day to the reception. On the day of the reception we want to have a civil ceremony, please help. Need some advice. Thank you
can marriage celebrants perform religious ceremonies?
Sweethome Marriage Celebrant
Hi, the answer is No. Regilious ceremony can be performed by Minister of the church (or what ever head of different religions). Some of these Ministers have the qualification of being a celebrant, in this case, your marriage can be solominised accroding to the law of this country at the same time. But if the Minister has got no such qualification, your marraige has to be solomised by civil celebrant separately. However, some couples want to combine religious ceremony with civil cremony so that they can have both done at the same time, this is is an option. If you need further information,

I'm looking into booking a celebrant, but I don't understand the difference between ceremony types?
Some provide a "full personalised" ceremony, and others a basic package, what's the biggest difference there? I thought all ceremonies had to be pretty much the same, ie: "Do you ___ take ___ to be your lawfully wedded wife". Please explain how there's such a big difference in price and services? :)

Hi, some words in the ceremony are compulsory to be said, some are optional. Ceremony can be big or small in terms of how you would like it to be organised. If you want your ceremony in certain place, you need setup venue, makeup, flowers, photographers etc, it will be very expensive, But if you just like a small ceremony only involved a celebrant leading you to do your vows and signing the papers, it will cost you less.
Hope my explanation is clear, drop me line if you need further help.
Kind regards

Yes you can, Like you said the civil one will be on the date of reception , so it wont clash and the civil one will be taken as the legal date of marriage as stated on your marriage certificate. If you have any more questions, please contact me.
