My approach is well crafted, I create your personalised ceremony drawing from a wide selection of references, my relaxed, intuitive and professional manner means that I make your people feel engaged and are in the moment with you.  As I start to speak I see everyone sit back and get comfortable, knowing it is going to be an enjoyable and authentic ceremony as you smile and giggle along with them.

We always arrive well before your guests, complete a sound check then play background music creating a welcoming ambience for your family and friends.

Attention to detail is how I roll, I spent time geting to know you and your partner as tell of the journey that's brought you to this incredible occassion, to guiding you through writing your heartfelt vows giving you confidence to share your vows with your partner in front of your people.

My style is well groomed, in fashion and dressed to suit your colours and ceremony style. I am happy to say that if for some strange reason I don't have something that suits your style and colour scheme I am happy to go dress shopping - That's the level of service I like to offer ... oh, yes I do like to shop :)

* I explain the legal documentaton as we complete this together.  Then straight after your wedding I lodge your documentation to register your wedding with Birth Deaths & Marriages and guide you through the process to change your name with ease.

* I bring along my quality wireless bluetooth portable sound system which has a microphone for your use, your videographer can plug into record every word.

* I include a short rehearsal a day or so prior at your venue, invite everyone involved in your ceremony so as they know what to do, where to stand and they all get a better  understanding of what's happening when.

* My professional Sound Technician plays all your carefully selected songs and manages volumes as you and your bridal party walk in to the signing of the documentation, then the celebration song as you walk back up the aisle being showered in petals.

Previously I was an Event Manager in this fast paced industry, designing and managing many weddings, I bring years of experience and expertise enabling me to see your wedding wholistically not just your ceremony.  Throughout our journey we design the perfect ceremony to reflect the right fit for you, your partner and your budget.

A wedding ceremony rehearsal helps to fine tune and clarify the ‘when, where and why’ for all parties invloved. It is preferable that all people participating in the wedding ceremony attend the rehearsal if they are in town at the time – this includes the wedding attendants, readers, those involved in the giving away and the person you have chosen to operate your recorded music (if applicable). The rehearsal ideally takes place during the week before the wedding.

The following legal requirements must be met for a marriage conducted by a registered marriage celebrant to be considered legal in Australia:

  • with the exception of Section 12 from The Marriage Act 1961, both parties must be at least 18 years of age
  • you are required to have two witnesses to the ceremony who are at least 18 years of age to sign the certificates and register
  • you must sign a declaration to state that there are no legal impediments to the marriage e.g. being married to someone else, the bride and groom being too closely related etc.
  • a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be lodged with your celebrant no less than one month and no earlier than 18 months before your ceremony

Kate and Matt, thank you so very much for choosing me. Your day was most spectacular and the two of you are just delightful. I was very happy to be your celebrant and lead those amazing moments especially the sand ceremony unifying your 6 incredible sons celebrating your family of 8!

Fiona was amazing to have on our special day! From our first messages, to our first meeting, and up until the wedding, she made sure all our documents were ready, helped with our vows where she could and made sure the ceremony went smoothly on the day. She had great communication throughout and was completely transparent of the processes. The ceremony script was perfectly tailored for us and was very memorable. We highly recommend Fiona as a marriage celebrant!

Erik and Carmela thank you so much for your kind words, it was an absolute delight to work with you then on the day ensuring you got the ceremony of your dreams overlooking the spectacular autumn vineyards colours. The weather made it very tricky indeed, my lovely sound technician / husband was watching the weather online and he found a 20 minute break in the rainy weather for us to get your ceremony underway. Definitely a phew! moment at the end as you walked back up the aisle the only shower was rose petals!

What can you say other than life partner and husband and wife?

wondering if there are any other ways to describe each other in our ceremony other than life partner, or husband and wife?

Fiona Winwood Marriage Celebrant

Some of the terms I've used are your forever partner in crime or Legal best friend.

How to honour lost loved ones at our wedding

Would love some ideas on how we can incorporate my late nan into our wedding. Thank you.

Fiona Winwood Marriage Celebrant

Hi there,

Good question as there's many ways of doing this; being such an emotional subject I find it's best to acknowledge and move on back into this wonderful happy space you've spent time creating for your special day.

A nicely framed photo of your very special Nan on the signing table for everyone to see is lovely. The will also miss her not being there.

If you'd like to give everyone to take a moment of reflection light a special candle as part of your ceremony in her honor. Have 2 candles for you and your partner lit in the moment by either your celebrant or a close family member maybe your Mum or Dad then you and yourpartner light the larger candle as everyone reflects on their memories of her.

Your Celebrant should be able to guide you through something lovely and deeply heartfelt.

All the best

Should we have signs at our ceremony to leave the front row vacant for immediate family?

I was thinking maybe this is tacky, but then maybe it's necessary. (Or am I really just overthinking it?) Someone suggested that this is the role of the celebrant - to ensure that it's family in the first row. Is that generally true?

Fiona Winwood Marriage Celebrant

Hello bride to be

Most weddings I officite people know the front row is for the family; let family members know they are to sit in the front row. Reserved signs do help or an usher if you have large number of guests if your concerned.

All the best for the big day
