It's great to organise your wedding gown as early as you can, the more time you have the more likely you'll be able to book in with the designer you feel comfortable with and the more options you'll have for fabric/lace choices, some of which can take months to arrive. Saying that if we have an enquiry for a gown to be made in a short time frame, and we have the capacity, we would still be able to create a beautiful gown, you'd be able to choose from our range of availible stocked fabrics. In short, the more time you allow, the better the chance of getting exactly what you love. If you have a year start looking already, eight to twelve months gives plenty of time to enjoy the process and make a great decission, six moths or less, you really have to get onto it ASAP. You'll find once you choose your gown it can set the tone for the whole wedding style and all the other details start to easily fall into place. Best of luck!

Hi there, it happens quite often either planned or unplanned, and depending on the timing, if you are having your gown made to measure adjustments to the design or fit can be made.It's really importsant that you let your designer/dressmaker know as soon as possible as the fittings need to be closer to the wedding date than they would otherwise be. Sometimes it's all part of the plan, I have made so many beautiful gowns for pregnant clients including two heavily pregnant with sets of twins.They both looked absolutely glowing and beautiful at their weddings!

The short answer is no.....when you are purchessing an off the rack gown there is usually multiple alterations needed as they are quite fitted garments with a long hemline, this needs to be just right. By the time you add the alteration costs which can easily be hundreds of dollars, quite often, value for money spent, goes with a custom made gown.....The price of a couture gown includes it having perfect propotions and fitting like a glove. It's worth keeping this in mind and exploring both options to see what you get for your money. A good designer is happy to guide you if you are working to a budget, always ask what the alteration fees are on a ready to wear gown before making the decission to purchess!
