Rachel and David celebrate Aussie way of life at relaxed vineyard wedding

Originally hailing from Canada, bride Rachel wanted her relaxed vineyard wedding to David to truly capture the Australian way of life.

“I was not expecting to date and eventually marry the most Aussie man I have ever met,” Rachel, 20, says of her relationship with David, 27.

After popping the question on a family holiday, the couple gave themselves 10 months to plan their relaxed vineyard wedding.

“We wanted to stray away from the traditional church and hall wedding that many young
Christian couples usually opt for and especially wanted to highlight the beautiful Western
Australian outdoors,” Rachel says.

The couple chose the Scented Gardens, a secret hideaway within South Park for their ceremony celebrated with 110 guests on February 3, 2018.

The reception followed at asmall family-run winery, Albion on Swan in the Swan Valley.

“We had some lights and an empty field to completely make the space our own. We adorned the tables with candles, native Australian flowers and Turkish bread with balsamic and dukkha,” Rachel says.

“My family who came from Canada was so excited to experience a very Australian, simple
outdoor wedding, and the perfect weather could not have made our day any better!”

The team at Sweet Floral put together elegant bouquets for the big day.

“We really captured and highlighted Australian nature through our venues and theme. We made our day completely our own, with both our venues being blank slates and having to provide everything and decorate all ourselves,” Rachel says of the DIY wedding.

Rachel describes her dress as absolutely perfect. “I was opting for nothing too traditional, but still soft and romantic,” she says.

The couple chose to DIY a lot of their venue decor.
