A dream wedding at Melrose Receptions for childhood sweethearts Grace and Anthony

Grace and her childhood sweetheart, Anthony, planned their dream wedding at the iconic St Mary Star of the Sea church with a spirited reception to follow at Melrose Receptions. The festivities were captured by the talented team at T-One Image.

After these two childhood sweethearts met through a mutual friend, the rest was history. Grace and Anthony excitedly sent out invites to 220 guests with elegant stationery by The Hello Bureau. Twelve years of togetherness led them to the altar at St Mary Star of the Sea church on November 26, 2022, where they were wed in a meaningful ceremony led by Father Felix.

“I wanted to create a night to remember,” explains Grace of her initial wedding vision. “Anthony is super easygoing and was happy for me to take the reins.”

For her wedding to Anthony, Grace selected a breathtaking gown with a dramatic train and romantic off-the-shoulder design. The team from T-One Image captured spectacular imagery of the occasion, using the stained glass windows and ornate gold detailing as an impactful backdrop.

After their classic religious ceremony, the couple posed for wedding portraiture with their families and bridal party members. The contrast between some of Melbourne’s most iconic locations and the rustic wildflower bouquets created the perfect balance of modern and classic for the photographs. Meanwhile, the guests enjoyed canapes and champagne for cocktail hour at Melrose Receptions as they waited for the celebration to commence.

After an upbeat entrance, Grace, and Anthony in his YSG Tailors three-piece suit, enjoyed a plentiful feast catered by Melrose Receptions. “The food was incredible and in abundance,” remembers Grace. “Guests raved about the delicious meals — no one was left hungry!”

Grace and Anthony’s wedding reception at Melrose Receptions was a true representation of their love and personality. The celebration was a beautiful blend of spirited energy and elegance. The couple’s choice of venue was spot on, given the large number of guests attending their wedding. “We wouldn’t change anything,” reflects Grace.

We had a large number of guests and I wanted a venue that could cater to a large number of people without skipping out on quality. Melrose Receptions was the best fit, having experience in large weddings. They also allowed us to style the space any way we like. They had no limitations to how we installed decor to turn the space into the gorgeous reception it was.
