Laidback yet luxe: Kristen and Mirko’s stylish cocktail wedding at The Kilburn Melbourne

Kristen and Mirko’s non-traditional Melbourne wedding was a fabulous cocktail celebration filled with magical moments, flowing drinks — and a cheeky late-night Maccas run.

Long-term lovers Kristen and Mirko steered away from tradition and opted for a gorgeous, intimate ceremony followed by a relaxed and fun-filled cocktail reception at The Kilburn Cocktail & Whisky Bar in Melbourne’s trendy Hawthorn.

The couple, who met through mutual friends in their local McDonald’s car park after a Friday night at the pub, tied the knot on April 24, 2021.

Arriving in style from the back seat of Chevy Red’s stunning cream Cadillac, Kristen looked absolutely breathtaking in her delicate Rue de Seine lace dress and white stiletto cowboy boots. Mirko wore a stylish custom navy suit from Bojoni Shop.

The couple chose to host both their ceremony and reception at The Kilburn Cocktail & Whisky Bar Hawthorn, resulting in a beautiful day that flowed effortlessly from the more formal exchanging of vows to the lively cocktail reception.

Melbourne marriage celebrant Greg Evans crafted a beautifully personalised ceremony for the couple, incorporating the perfect blend of humour and warmth to reflect their laidback style.

The ceremony was followed by a stylish cocktail party at The Kilburn, with delicious Greek-inspired canapés served roaming style. And for the late party-goers? A midnight delivery of chips ‘n’ nuggets from the local Hawthorn Maccas; cheers to their own late-night beginnings all those years ago.

This laidback and fun-filled celebration was everything Kristen and Mirko envisioned — a night of live music, flowing beverages, and a packed dancefloor.

We didn’t want any formalities for the wedding, we just wanted a big party with lots of drinking and dancing to celebrate our love with all of our closest loved ones. The Kilburn Cocktail & Whisky Bar in Hawthorn provided the perfect setting for our ceremony and reception, with its luxe modern feel and moody colour palette.
