Michael Bublé, a home cooked meal and candlelight…what more do you need for an inconspicuous proposal?
“Eugene proposed on Valentine’s Day – which he knows is very corny however he thought he could never get away with it on another day as I would know he was up to something,” smiles Amy Akister, 24 of her groom Eugene Galati, 28. “He had filled the house with candles and had Michael Bublé playing in the background.”
The Cairns couple enjoyed a long engagement before marrying at their classic wedding in Port Douglas. “We were in no rush to get married,” explains Amy. “We slowly planned to day together which made things less stressful.”
The sun shone for the special day where 110 guests joined the couple in their celebration. “Our wedding day was amazing and the best part was just having all of our family and friends together at once,” smiles Amy. “It’s so rare these days.”
The couple honeymooned in New Zealand and Vanuatu.
Amy was dressed by designer David Tutera and her bridesmaids, Forever New.

“Don’t sweat the small stuff” is Amy’s advice for brides-to-be.
