Here’s a list of our favourite pieces we are currently dreaming about:

Earrings

Earrings are the fastest way to dress up an outfit. Whether it is a classy pair of pearl studs or hoops for that cool girl vibe, there’s a pair for every occasion. Tassels are in this season, and this pair from Samantha Wills combines that with turquoise beads, perfect for the boho-chic bride.

Crown

Flower crowns are still hugely popular these days but they are steeped in traditions and meaning. In ancient Greece, flower crowns were commonly worn at special occasions to honour the gods. Throughout history all over the world, these halos have been a representation of love, fertility and celebration.

Hair Pins

If crowns are not your thing, bejewelled hairpieces add a little bit of glam to any hair-do and are super girly. Many brides choose this option on their wedding day because they are the perfect way to dress up your hair in a slightly more subtle way, rather than a crown or tiara.

Garter

As far as wedding traditions go, the garter toss is as old as can be! There are many superstitions surrounding this tradition. One superstition was that owning a piece of the wedding dress would bring good luck and this led to guests attacking the bride in an attempt to rip off a piece of her gown. Brides started wearing a specific article of clothing that can be removed and given as the lucky piece: the garter. Many couples still do a garter toss and bouquet toss today, but the tradition is slowly losing momentum.

After the bride performs the bouquet toss, the groom does the garter toss for all the unmarried bachelors in the crowd. It is said that whoever who catches the garter will be the next to get married.

You could even incorporate ‘something blue’ into your outfit with a blue wedding garter like this customized set from Custom wedding garters.

Shoes

You’re going to want to look your best on your wedding day, from the hair to glowy makeup, and one of the most important accessories is your shoes. A lot of women leave their shoe shopping to the last minute and sometimes it results in wrong choice of footwear. You want to match your shoes to your gown but comfort and function are also important. You will be spending a lot of time on your feet and the last thing you want is painful blisters. We recommend wearing your shoes in (on carpet, of course) to avoid any potential mishaps and to ensure that you are looking amazing but your poor toes aren’t rubbing or blistering.

Bracelet

If you’ve been spending months at the gym in preparation for the biggest day of your life and you want to show off your toned arms in a sleeveless dress, then why not accessorize with a dainty diamante for a little sparkle. This gem from Fletcher and Grace is designed and handmade in Australia, what’s not to love! We adore the soft femininity of this piece, with would look incredible as a wedding day accessory.

6. Necklace

A necklace is a traditional choice for most bride-to-be’s, with many opting for a matching necklace and earring set. Keep in mind your dress neckline when choosing your wedding necklace and looking into these options as some will not work together. For example, on my wedding day, I am choosing not to wear a necklace because the neckline is already quite busy, and a necklace would simply look like it was too much. Strapless dresses look beautiful with necklaces, and simpler silky sheath dresses look incredible with dainty wedding necklaces with fine chains and minimal stones.

8. Veil

With the many different types of veils out there, there is one for every bride. Whether it be a birdcage veil, (which totally suits that tea length, rockabilly style) or a full length cathedral veil with lace edging, there are SO many veils to choose from. If you’re going for something more classic, try a pearl embellished veil or one with lace or diamante edging. Be sure to try on a variety with your dress so that you can establish which style suits you most. You might find that the opposite style actually looks better with your dress. A personal favourite of ours is the Mantilla veil, traditionally worn by spanish brides.

9. Anklet

For a boho or beachy bride, an anklet just makes sense! Especially if you’re not wearing shoes, and are lifting up your dress to avoid dragging it in the sand, a beautiful anklet is a perfect way to add a little glimmer or sparkle to your legs.
