Meet Caterina KouzEasy Weddings: Hi Caterina! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and why you became a marriage celebrant?
Throughout my life, there were many opportunities for me to present in front of a crowd, either from my debating days in high school to being president of the fundraising committees at my children’s high schools, where I was MC at events and gala evenings. I’m well-spoken and always present myself at a high standard.
Becoming a marriage celebrant was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made. I am definitely a people person. I love getting to know and meet new people. I enjoy hearing their love stories and why they want to spend the rest of their lives together. Weddings would have to be one the most joyous occasions to attend, and being a part of that is an extraordinary feeling.
How would you describe your celebrancy style?
I am very easygoing and calm, which I feel projects onto my couples. They always comment on how I make them feel relaxed and at ease because of my calmness. My style would be simple but stylish with a touch of humour. An ideal ceremony would be to have a lot of love and emotion, which usually brings on a few tears but also a touch of humour to add joy and laughter, creating the perfect combination.
What do you love most about being a marriage celebrant?
What I love most about being a celebrant is knowing I have created something personal and truly unique for my couple — witnessing the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. It is an overwhelming feeling that I get to experience over and over again!
What should couples look for when searching for their celebrant?
The most important thing for a couple to look for in a celebrant would be to feel a connection. Your celebrant will be there by your side on one of the biggest days of your life, so it is important you feel comfortable and at ease in their presence.
Do you have any advice for couples on dealing with wedding day nerves?
The best way to deal with wedding day nerves is to have a rehearsal a few days before the ceremony. Whether it’s with the entire bridal party or just the three of us, walking you through every step and what to expect on the day is reassuring and comforting and will make the whole experience one to remember.
What do you think are the key ingredients for a memorable ceremony?
The key ingredient for a memorable ceremony would have to be knowing that you are 110% happy with your ceremony script. You need to feel comfortable with what your celebrant is presenting and that it truly represents you, not only as a couple but also as individuals. After a ceremony, family members often tell me that I have captured the couple perfectly. I would consider it the ultimate satisfaction that I have gone above and beyond to achieve the best outcome for my couple!
