Wondering if there are surcharges for weddings on special dates like this. We're thinking of a NYE wedding.

It is specific to the vendor, but you'll find that the majority of vendors will charge a fee for that particular day and you should expect this across the board. Whether it's caterers, florists, photographers etc, they all have suppliers or staff that would require a higher rate for working on NYE and those additional fees would normally fall onto the package costs.
?? Yep—expect a surcharge for NYE and other peak dates.
Why? It’s a public holiday, it’s in high demand, and your vendors are giving up their own plans to be there for yours.
?? It’s usually an extra 10–30%, but it varies. Some vendors include it in a flat “holiday rate.”
Best move? Lock it in early—NYE books fast, and you want someone who’s hyped to capture the countdown with you.
Have never heard of anyone charging extra because the wedding falls on a special day, not even if the wedding falls on Christmas Day.
But I have heard of plenty of people who will charge LESS for weekday weddings, or sometimes winter or autumn weddings.

Some might. We don't. My advice though would be to avoid the date as many vendors in general will be unavailable due to family commitments. A higher risk that people may also pull out if you have booked a cheaper vendor. Logistics at that time of year can be hard to find replacments if vendors do the wrong thing.

This one is choice which differs between each company you enquire with and what they have on or booked. Cre8tve Moments doesn't charge more for public holidays, you will just need to double check our availability when booking with us.
It depends of Videographer skills.
Most known videographers in the world are booked for special days like this and clients usually pay more just to make sure to reserve the spot.
You could always find cheaper options, but most of people who spend less, complain the most.
Hi There is no surcharge, but you'd want to book that date asap before it's gone. You can contact us at info@mementofilms.com.au Thanks!

For us at She Said YES, there's no New Year's Eve surcharge. Our pricing is the same whatever the date, so you can plan around the wedding you actually want rather than around hidden loadings. The one thing worth doing is asking any vendor to put it in writing in your contract, just so there are no surprises later.
The real thing to know about NYE is that it books out faster than almost any other date of the year, so if you've got your heart set on it, lock your suppliers in early. Good photographers and videographers can only shoot one wedding a day, and the popular dates go first. Getting in ahead of the rush matters far more than worrying about a surcharge.
From a filming and photography point of view, a NYE wedding is genuinely one of the most fun to capture. You usually get that lovely late afternoon and golden hour light through the ceremony and portraits, then the energy lifts again for the midnight countdown, and fireworks or sparkler send offs give you a beautiful, atmospheric end to the film. We'd just suggest mapping out your run sheet so the formalities are done before midnight, leaving the countdown free to simply enjoy.
Everything we shoot is edited in-house by our own team, never outsourced offshore, so the way your day looks and feels carries right through to the final photos and film. Happy to talk through timing and availability whenever you're ready.
