Any venues in Sydney that can hold 600-700 guests?

Cocktail Wedding Venues on the East Coast that let you BYO catering (cheese & meats grazing table)?

We're looking to have a wedding with around 100 guests in a cocktail setting (no sit down meals etc.). We want to bring in an external company to do an amazing cheese and meats grazing table (that can easily be done by a registered caterer if need be) and then do drinks through the venue as well as potentially canapes as well. We know some venue's supply grazing tables but we're really after something quite extravagant hence the external caterer. We're based in Sydney but are really not fussy about time of year or destination as long as it's on the east of Australia (QLD, NSW and VIC) and a venue that's indoors (or at least has an indoor area in case it rains). Does anyone know venues who would allow this or know whether it is a viable option at all? Thank you!

From our experience Cocktail Weddings' have a great atmosphere, with guests interacting with each other and mingling. It is a lovely and social way to celebrate. Our venue can produce amazing and inspired grazing table spreads along with service of canapes and then on the flip-side we also have options for clients to provide their own caterers, however, this will need to be discussed with our team as conditions do apply - caterers do not have access to kitchen facilities.
As we are a licensed venue and to ensure RSA, all beverages must be purchased from us. Our Holroyd Centre events team looks forward to an opportunity to hear from you and meet with you to provide a complimentary private tour of our venue. 

How to make your ceremony and reception work in one location?

Im planning to have both my ceremony and my reception in the same room. How would I change the decor etc if everyones still in there lol thanks xx

Hello, For every Bride and Groom, your Wedding Day is a really important and special milestone in your life and the journey you are about to embark on together.

Firstly, it is important to know what you and your fiance want, what you both like/don't like, what are your must have's and what are your negotiables, here are a list of preliminary thoughts and questions you may like to review and consider:

  • What do you want your Wedding Day to be like?
  • Are you looking for a venue that will plan with you and provide you with experience and industry contacts?
  • Are you looking for a venue that can help you with Ceremony to Celebration offers?
  • How many guests are you inviting?
  • What is your budget?
  • What date do you want to hold your Wedding? Is the date in the peak of the wedding season? Is your ideal venue available?
  • Is your ideal venue easily accessible and have easy parking options available?
  • When talking to venues, really understand what it is that they do offer for instance, set-up of your room, decorations, staff, catering options even consider whether there are additional charges for equipment and/or requests. For instance our venue includes everything, room set-up, linen, cutlery, crockery, glassware, food and beverage service staff, we serve tea and coffee to your guests at dessert time, we do not charge our clients for special dietary requirements, or for alternate meal service - even the little things we take care of for example providing Champagne Flutes for the Bride and Groom Toast or a cake knife for you to cut through your wedding cake.

Will venue's charge extra for having more than one type of ceremony?

Sounds exciting! We hold many cultural weddings and ceremonies at our venue. I'm sure Venues would differ on this depending on whether you mean you will hold the two types of ceremonies during the same hire period or whether a separate day/time/hire period will be required. It is best to discuss your exact needs with each venue.

Is an on-site venue coordinator usually included in venue packages?

Every venue is different, but usually you will receive Event Management/Coordination included in the package. Yes, I agree with many of the comments explaining the value and importance of the Coordinator. They are an essential part of the Wedding Planning process, to ensure that you achieve your special day, it is flawless and a very memorable occasion for you, your fiance and all your guests. The Holroyd Centre Events Team including your Function Coordinator are available and included in our Wedding and Event Packages.

How far in advance should I book my wedding venue?

I don't want to miss out on my dream venue. So, how far in advance should I make the booking?

Day, time of year and special/significant dates can impact on the availability of your preferred venues and suppliers. We agree with many of the responses in that 12 - 18 months is ideal and should your Wedding Date fall off-peak or during Winter Months then 6 - 12 months should be sufficient. Our venue can at times assist with short notice requests and we definitely have Wedding industry contacts and an In-House Function and Events Manager supported by a team that will help ensure your Wedding Planning process is smooth and you have the best and most memorable day possible.
