- Not being clear from the very beginning of what kind of theme or style of wedding you would like, this mistake means lots of changes throughout the planning which can lead to prefered suppliers being unavailable, higher costs, or just wasted time.

- Booking just the cheapest suppliers you can find. Most couples are on a budget, but skimping out on "cheap" photographers, videographers, wedding planners and coordinators, venues, celebrants and others will mean you may be disappointed about their services. Research your vendors and suppliers properly, ask for their ABN and insurance details, check reviews, see their portfolio and make sure you actually like the person and feel comfortable with them

- Leaving things to the last minute. Try getting things done using a checklist as soon as you can. There will be lots more things that will pop up closer to the day so my advice is allowing plenty of time to not get stressed

- Get quotes of your most important items early on and make a budget from there. Usually things cost more than you think

- If on a budget, think about what is most important to you and allocate more money towards that. Don't bother with something that you dont care about or do less important things at a reduced cost

There are so many more pieces of advice I could give, but generally don't worry too much. Do your best as you go along, use checklists and if ask your suppliers heaps of questions.

Every wedding is so different, so there are hiccups here and there but we see this one all the time - underestimating actually how much there is to do. I know some people have said that our 244 point check list is a little scary - but thats the thing, when organising a wedding there is just a lot to do. If you have never organised a big event before, or your own wedding for that matter the other thing Brides forget is that so much emotion is involved - and one of those is stress. Who wants to be stressed on the most special day of their life? Just start early and do something every week.

Not hiring a professional planner! most couples have absoltley no idea how much work and planning is involved in a wedding and having an expert handle the logistics and legalities along with getting the best deals industry wide. A great planner will have exceptional negotiating skills and save you potentially thousands of dollars. hope this helps you, I woud be happy to assit you further.

getting an inexperienced photographer this is the one area you should not cut costs on and you must check there previo us work as you only get one change on the day to get everything captured correctly especially table settings etc

another issue is underestimating costs before you have found out the true costings as this will effect your overall budget,

dont underestimate the time to book venues so far in adavance as they can book out years in advance if popular

leave extra money in your budget for last minute items example wrong colour ties or something

you take a risk ordering online as you cannot check quality or sizing

check what you are paying for ask lots of questions make sure you are fully aware of what is going on

choose your bridal party carefully and prepare them up front

dont underestimate the time taken for any DIY tasks

check arragements the week before to check your vendors are on track

i hope this helps but if there is any more help you need please leave me another question.
