Hi there, having separate invites will ensure clarity for those you have invited - either ceremony or ceremony & reception. If you are worried you may offend any guests you just invite to the ceremony (and if they ask) you can be honest or let them know that you were restricted to numbers at the venue, or financial restrictions. Most people will not worry about it. To celebrate/toast with those guests just invited to the ceremony I would recommend that you have some drinks so it feels like a celebration (if possible).

If guests know each other and you think this may create issues then you will need to be prepared for this and ensure you stay strong to your decision as it is your day, not theirs.

Good luck

Hi Alexina,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. What you could do in this instance is make up two separate invitations for your guests. One invitation inviting your guests to your ceremony and reception and the other invitation inviting your guests to the ceremony and you could say something like "due to budgetary constraints we are only able to invite a limited number of guests to our reception, but we hope that you can share in our special day by attending our ceremony". Hope this help and we hope you have a wonderful day on your wedding day.

Hi Alexina,

The situation shouldn't be that hard if your ceremony venue and reception venue is separated. You can simply put "ceremony only" on your invitation. Make sure your ceremony looks very inviting, and better to prepare some snacks and drinks for your guests at ceremony, of course and music. :)

I wish the idea can help you out, all the best!! x

This actually happens a lot. What I have found works best, is to create a invite just for those who you would like to come to the ceremony.

Most people will appreciate the fact that they have been invited. The ceremony is the most important part and if you tell them that you'd love to have them come, I can't imagine them being annoyed with that!

Please feel free to make contact with me if I can help you with anything else.
