Hi Oliver,

Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm not a DJ or a band. I perform as voice/guitar. Would this be of interest for the ceremony and some of the reception? Generally, my price would usually be lower than a DJ / band.

Let me know your thoughts and I can email you more information

Cheers

Henry

Yes you can do both. I provide a DJ service and am in close contact with a cover band. Alternating between band and DJ or half and half is an option. Just contact me for details.

Absolutley! Have a band/duo who can offer great music during the initial part of your reception and are adaptable between meals,  speeches and dances, and then also have a complete DJ set up for when the party really gets going! All in one is the way to go.

And hey, we just happen to offer that too ;)

All the best with your search and have fun!

My wife is a DJ and we worked for many years together in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Spanish Canaries; here in Australia on all the major great barrier reef island resorts and in the Ski fields. We developed a great DJ interactive thing with my solo work and with my band.

She would spin a song and the band would start playing over it and she would fade out. Other things we would do to keep a vibe going and to set a mood. It was/is a great way to include elements from EDM that people are used to hearing and live music.

When I worked in Europe, this DJ interactive thing was very common place.

... we can certainly do that.

My DJ wife spins all sorts of rhythms/loops and I play over to make classic songs sound like 'ReMixes' yet 'live', with me singing and playing.

The bandDJ is good but I recommend a good solo/DJ thing like we do.

There certainly is!

We offer both live music and DJ services for the price of hiring just a band, or just a DJ.

I would love my wedding to have the sound and style of a Jazz/Soul group but some of my guests will also want to dance to some Modern Pop/Club music as well as the Jazz/Soul band? If this is you then please note that clients can also provide CD's or an IPod/Laptop playlist with music of their choice which can be played through the band's sound system either as background set break music or at high volume for an additional dance set when the group is on a set break later in the evening. This can be a way of 'covering all bases' by catering for all your guests musical tastes without engaging a DJ for hundreds of dollars when only a limited amount of DJ repertoire is required. The bands state of the art PA is equivalent to a professional DJ's system. This option is also ideal if a set of Greek/Italian/Indian/Jewish etc. cultural music is important for dancing but where a band is still appropriate for the majority of the function.

With all the advancement in musical technology and popularity of DJ's and solo or duo musicians performing with recorded backing tracks we strongly believe that there is still no substitute for the unique atmosphere that can only be created by highly skilled musicians performing live. It is true there is some risk in booking live entertainment for a wedding as if it is the wrong band it can be a disaster and actually have a detrimental effect, but book the right band and your guests will have a night that they will be raving about long into the future.

Absolutely! We often provide affordable packages that provide combinations of live music to suit the Ceremony, Canapes and meal, then switch to DJ for after hours dancing. Sometimes we even jam with our DJ for a cool, fun and smooth transition. Get in touch to discuss exactly what you like and how you see your day unfolding, we will make it happen!

I play live music with over 450 songs to choose from, you can select the live music you would like to hear.

During breaks in the live music I recommend an iPod with your fav music on it. A simple DJ crossfade app keeps the tunes rolling and it just plugs into my amazing BOSE PA system

Good luck with your BIG day.

It's not uncommon to have both a Live Band and a DJ share the live entertainment duties at a Wedding Reception. Fundamentally, the idea is that the DJ will 'trade sets' with the band by playing music when the band is taking breaks to fill the spaces and keep the vibe intact. In practice, this works exceptionally well. It's not essential, it's a luxury. Usually the DJ will have the 'last say' so to speak in that the DJ will take care of the last set at the end of the night for last half hour or so to give you your dose of 'doof doof' dance music to conclude the night. Having both a Live Band and a DJ is a great way to get the best of both worlds!
