Hi,

Generally speaking, the walk down the isle is a soft and tender song (e.g. 'All I Want Is You'), the cutting of the cake is an upbeat acoustic song (choose 2 songs to have enough music to cover the time - e.g. 'You and Me' and 'Better Together'), the end of the ceremony is something really cheerful and upbeat (e.g. 'Singed, Sealed, Delivered), and the bridal waltz is something heartfelt, but with rhythm (e.g. Thinking Out Loud).

There are so many Spotify wedding music playlists out there (Google: 'most popular wedding songs globally on Spotify), but remember, nothing beats having live music! You can use lists like these for inspiration though.

Alternatively, we offer a custom songwriting service. You can pick a style of music and some themes/ideas/lyrics and have a song tailor made just for you.

Hope this helps,

Peter

Hi

In my experience I have found that an instrumental piece of music for the cutting of the cake works really well, because it is generally a lot shorter than an entire song and it is a time for taking lots of photos.

For your bridal waltz the sky is the limit, consider anything and everything, choose something that you both love, of course if you have your own special song, the you must have that. I think the bridal waltz is the most intimate part of the reception, so find something beautiful that will remind you of the day forever.

All the best, have a wonderful day

Hi there,

First off, congrats on your engagement! What an exciting time ahead! It looks like my colleagues from other bands and duos have pretty much covered all the answers there. If your talking ceremony songs, we can do a really pretty acoustic arrangement of anything you choose, so I would say go with a song that really hits a spot with you and you finance. It doesn't need to be known by your guests at all. Just run with it. As far as the reception goes, as some of the other answers have stated, keep the music varied and not too obscure as there is a huge demographic of people with different tastes all wanting to have a dance and sing along. A good wedding band will know which song to play at the right moment to keep the dance floor full. Here's some of my favourite songs for walking down the aisle or the first dance that we've played, that are not too obvious are (Generally played acoustic with vocals):

Kiss me - Six Pence None the Richer

Turning Page - Sleeping At Last

Thank You - Led Zeppelin

Make You Fell My Love - Adelle

Real Love - The Beatles

The First Day Of My Life - Bright Eyes

Good Luck Kim! I hope your day

Stay With You - John Legend

Only You Can Love Me This Way - Keith Urban

As for cutting the Cake, it really is such a fleeting moment that we generally play the original artist recording which 9 times out of ten doesn't make it to the end of the song. I have created a loop of the start to 'Sky Full Of Stars' by Coldplay and usually play that.... couples seem to love it!

Good Luck, I hope this helps and I hope you have a fantastic wedding day!!!

There's plenty of great songs that could work well at these points, but ideally it would be great to go with something you have a personal connection to. Feel free to give us a call if you would like to discuss some ideas.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding music for your Wedding Formalities. It can get a little overwhelming with the song selection process.

We offer a Free Wedding Consultation and go through Song Selections previous couples have chosen for their weddings to help future clients with this process. They do not have to choose what is on these lists, they are merely a guide to help with this process.

As you can imagine every Wedding is different, and although we encourage for our clients to choose their songs, a lot of the time we encourage to pick songs that they know will get their guests existed and reactive on the night. After all you know your guests best.

Here is a list of formalities where we request for song selections to be selected.

Bridal Party Entry Songs - This is where we invite couple by couple to be introduced into the reception from either the chorus or the start of the song. You can ask the couples what they wish to walk in to, or go with what is popular such as movie theme songs or something with a good happy feel good beat.

Cutting Of The Cake Song - Here we play a sweet ballad or happy feel good song softly, until when the cake is then cut and then raise the volume slightly at that point where the guests put their hands together congratulating the newlyweds cutting their cake.

Bridal Waltzes (Slow Love Ballads) - Traditionally we invite the Bride and Groom up first, followed by the Parents and the Bridal Party Up on the next song, and then 2 or 3 more songs for your guest to take their partners by the hand and join our newlyweds on the dance floor too. I usually suggest to keep it all in the same theme, weather you select Golden Oldie Classics, or slow love pop songs, as it flows better this way.

Throwing Of The Bouquet , Removal of The Garter and Tossing of the Garter Songs - Are usually fun songs that are played for a small snippet of time which are related and theme to the single girls and single lads too.

All this and more can be discussed in more detail at our Obligation Free Wedding Consultations, or should you wish to share your email address I would be more than happy to send you these lists for your review and a helping hand with your Song Selection Process.

Warm Regards,

Go with songs you and your partner both love and don't overthink it. A good musician or band can reinterpret any song to make it appropriate for the special moments. We have done acoustic versions of songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" that were so beautiful noone thought it innapropriate for the wedding. You can be playful with it, so choose what you love and the professionals will make sure it sounds amazing. Get in touch if you'd like to discuss further - we have all sorts of instrumental, vocal and DJ combo options available to suit different wedding styles.

Hey there - we've made a playlist of our favourite bridal waltz tunes: mrboutique.com.au/15-favourite-first-dance-songs

In terms of cutting the cake, it's often such a quick exercise that it might not require a specific song. Perhaps a break in a band set to cut the cake, and once done, the band can continue?

Cheers,

Hi there,

When it comes to the special moments like cutting cake and entrance, the best music is "theme" music rather than a recognisable song in our experience. What we mean is, we play soundtrack music live, like you'd hear during a movie, which creates the right emotion for the moment but is very much a background to what is actually going on. We're fortunate in that our keyboard player, Marco, actually writes and produces tracks for movies, so we have that special skill at our disposal!

The bridal waltz is different - the best song for this part of the evening is one that "speaks" to you both and is obviously easy to dance to as well. A slower ballad is generally the go, and it could be the song you consider to be "your song".

When we meet with brides and grooms in our studio, we run through the options with them and show them what we mean by playing live in front of them. When you find the right act, you should be able to work with them to get all of these moments just perfect.

All the best to you!
