Hi everyone, i'm Ben & i'm the drummer/manager of Black Tie Party. After studying music at uni I was lucky enough to join a couple of bands which took me overseas. While on tour, I met the love of my life. Our wedding was truly amazing, and the best part was having an incredible band which had people on the dance floor the entire night. Since then, i've spent my efforts providing that same experience to brides & grooms, and look forward to getting the dance floor pumping every time we play.

When booking Black Tie Party for your wedding, we're there for the night. We understand that every wedding is different, so will work in with your schedule and plan around the formalities in order to make sure our performance times maximise the musical component of the night. We will play as much music as you like while working in with your formalities, ensuring to tailor the set to suit the mood of your wedding.
As long as you like! We work in and around your other formalities, and will play as much as you like in order to maximise the night. We love a pumping dance floor as much as you!
Yes, we will provide a full PA system & lighting set up in addition to our instruments. All we need is access to power.
Even when we're not playing, we're making sure the music is on point. Whether it be relaxing background music during meals, or DJ party sets during band breaks, we've carefully ceated playlists to suit.
Yes, our drummer/manager Ben will be the one working with you in the lead up to your wedding, and is always happy to MC at no additional cost.
Absolutely! Weddings are about love & happiness, and we feel extremely fortunate to be able to play for any couple on their big day.
We certainly do! Our advice is to ask the band well in advance if you'd like us to learn songs for your wedding. We usually recommend choosing a special song for your bridal dance, goodbye circle or any other formalities you have. We're also happy to learn a favourite or two to stick in our set.
No, we are a 100% live band.
Our drummer/manager Ben will work with you in regards to your schedule, song requests, MC duties, venue requirements, or any other items you'd like to discuss in the lead up to your wedding.
We base our load in time on when the guests enter the venue, as opposed to when we're playing. It takes roughly 45 minutes for us to unload and set up, however, we do like to arrive 90-120 minutes earlier to make sure we have plenty of time to set up and discuss logistics with the venue.
Yes please. We're not too fussy, but from load in time to leaving time we're usually at a wedding venue for 7-9 hours, so a meal and drinks are always appreciated.
Absolutely not. The price we quote is for the full band for the full reception. We'll play as much music as you like, learn song requests, MC, and help with planning along the way.
We certainly do. Don't stress if your wedding isn't in Melbourne, we're always happy to travel far & wide.
Because we are a wedding band, we do not play public showcases very often. Please feel free to ask if you're interested in seeing us perform live.

Hi,
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! It's a pretty easy answer to this question: Whatever you prefer. Bands & DJs are both great for different reasons, the main thing is getting it right in terms of what feel you'd like for your wedding. Coming from a band perspective myself, you do get a much more personal touch than a DJ, in that the feeling of a live band can be something really special if you find a band you really like.
With DJs on the other hand, your ability to have input in to the playlist is a lot higher, as what a DJ can play on a night is effectively limitless. That being said, at any wedding there's only a certain amount of music you can fit in to the night, so if you find a band you really like and you can work with in regards to the music choices, it'll definitely add a lot.
In terms of MC duties, that really depends on the individual act you choose, as many bands & DJs are happy to MC, but not all. The best thing is just to ask.
