I have worked in the wedding industry for over 9 years and when it was my turn to be married I approached Tim & his wife Koby to DJ and MC our wedding reception at The Stables of Somersby. Tim and Koby have been great friends of mine for a long time and they were absolutely amazing at rocking the dance floor and playing all our requests for our 1950's themed wedding. Tim had such great energy with his MC skills and he was absolutely brilliant at coordinating with all our suppliers and hosting our special day. His jokes and quick wit were incredible! How much are travel fees for wedding bands/djs?

G'day. We're currently tossing up between a city wedding and a destination wedding in the country. Wondering how much wedding bands/djs charge to travel (and if they even want to?) How far are they willing to travel for a wedding? Thanks!

Hi There,

Generally speaking we quote on all of our weddings individually. As our Musicians, DJ's and MC's live at different locations across NSW, pricing usually depends on the distance that the individual act needs to travel. We will discuss this with our couples when they first make an enquiry and will often recommend someone who is reasonably close to the venue if they are available. Of course if our clients have their eye on someone specific then we can always incorporate the travel fee into the overall quote after checking with the act. Travel would usually be an additional $50 to $300 depending on distance, and most of our performers are happy to travel for 3-4 hours each way before accommodation is required.

How quickly do we need to book in a band or DJ for our wedding?

Hi There,

Usually we find that our couples are enquiring about booking their entertainment about 12 months out from their wedding date. Some Brides and Grooms might be a bit ahead of the curve, and we regularly lock in performers 2 or 3 years out from the big day.

We also receive enquiries from couples who have had their original Band or DJ cancel at the last minute, and we are happy to find a solution for them as well. As Timeless Wedding Entertainment is part of the Absolute Infinity Group, we can often move a DJ out of a Pub or Club gig and into a wedding if need be. The show must go on right!

Timeless Wedding Entertainment

I run Timeless Wedding Entertainment and we supply both live acts and DJ's to events all over Australia. I think that there is no easy answer to this question as there are so many factors to consider. Of course a brilliant 5 piece band is going to create an amazing vibe as you will have multiple performers all giving 100% to entertain you and your guests. Undoubtedly this will also cost quite a lot more than a DJ however, and will take up a fair bit of room in the area that you are holding your reception in. If you've got a big room with plenty of space and a reasonable budget then go all out and book a fantastic live act. If you are holding a smaller wedding with limited room then you may find that a DJ is simply more suited to your style of celebration.

We often book a combination Live/DJ package with a Soloist providing the music at the Ceremony, followed by a Duo to entertain during the Canapes. The DJ then takes over for the Reception side of things and often acts as the MC as well. This gives couples a great mix for their big day.
