About

Vanessa and Daniel are musicians from the Blue Mountains. They fell in love with music at a young age and have been in the industry for over 10 years. Both multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, they have been in many different bands and taught at various music schools, privately and through their buisness. Piccolo Bear came together in 2017 and love playing gigs, touring, and performing at weddings.

Sing to your partner with Piccolo Bear

Piccolo Bear offer you the opportunity to sing a special song to your partner. As we are both singing and instrument teachers, if you’d like us to help you work out (or even write!) a song we can arrange it with you then play it on the day. This can be really sweet and can happen at any time throughout your wedding! We can arrange private lessons (through skype or you can come to us!) to make your song perfect.

Do you provide audio equipment?

Yes we do!

We will provide a full sound system, and Daniel has studied a Bachelor of Music so is a brilliant sound man.

This means you can use our microphone and speaker during speaches etc.

What are the packages you have available?

Price does not include: travel costs ($20 per hour to and from Katoomba), extra song requests, writing your unique wedding song, accomodation (if required) and if your reception goes over 5 hours.

Can Piccolo Bear play requests?

Yes!

Both Daniel and Vanessa have years of experience in learning and arranging song requests!

Being multi-instrumentalists, we can do any combination of banjo, ukulele, guitar and piano.

Each package includes 5 song requests.

Additional requests can be added for the small fee of $50 per song.

Can you record the music of the day to keep?

Yes!

We can record your live ceremony requests songs, edit them and send them to you within three weeks. Dan is an audio engineer, so we can do the whole process for you. Your special songs make for perfect soundtracks to your wedding videos.

Cost is $100 per song for recording, editing and mixing.

What are good songs for a wedding?

My dad and his fiance are about to get married this summer and I’m in charge of selecting songs for the whole day. The only song set I’m missing are the songs to be played during the ceremony itself. I was thinking of playing the song my dad’s fiance sang during the first time they met in an international dating social event. But I was thinking of using it for their first dance together. Another option was using the first song they sang together during karaoke night the day she first met our family. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Being given the job of choosing songs is a big task!

Thinking of songs that have been shared within special moments is a great idea, and adds a really unique and emotional touch. Try asking them who their favourite bands or singers are, any concerts they have been to together, or songs that reflect the couple themselves (and how much they love each other).

Ceremony songs can be anything that suits the couple, but often more gentle, sweet and beautiful songs for the ceremony can really bring a focus onto the bride and groom. After the completion of the signing, something more celebratory and upbeat can really fit this moment as it’s celebration time from there on!

A band has the ability to be very intimate and beautiful, with live singing and instruments. As they are live musicians, they are able to shift and change (on the spot) for moments like if the bride or groom is delayed walking down the isle, they can play for longer and extend the song. A band is also perfect for the first dance, which is so beauitful and special.

A band also provides easy and sweet transitions between moments, after the ceremony they can energise the room while the wedding party are taking photos, without being too distracting from the couple. It also provides something for people to actually watch and appreciate the beauty of.

A DJ brings energy and fun, they are perfect for getting people on the floor dancing, taking requests and keeping the energy up! This is also the time when a couple can dance to all their favourite songs (that might swing from folk, to pop, to heavy metal!). A DJ can also play all night long.
