I’m GJ, the lead singer and guitarist of Herding Katz, and I’ve spent over 20 years performing live music at weddings, events and venues across the Hunter Valley and beyond. What I love most about playing weddings is being part of such a special day — and making sure the music helps create moments people remember. Whether it’s a relaxed acoustic vibe early in the night or a full dancefloor later on, I pride myself on reading the room and delivering the right songs at the right time.

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for peak wedding season in the Hunter Valley. Dates can fill quickly — often 12–18 months in advance.
Absolutely! We’re happy to learn your first dance or any special songs that are meaningful to you. Just let us know in advance. In fact, we have over 200 songs on our set list that you can choose from. If you would like us to learn other styles or genres, you just let us know!
We play a wide range of crowd favourites — from classic hits to modern chart-toppers. Our goal is to cater to all ages and keep the dancefloor full all night.
Yes! We’re great at reading the room and are happy to take requests where possible to keep your guests engaged and dancing. We also bring a spare microphone and guiter for any guest that wants to jump up and join us!
Yes — we provide professional sound and lighting equipment suitable for your venue, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
We can absolutely tailor a package to include acoustic sets for your ceremony, pre-drinks or canapés, as well as the full band for your reception. This is done as a duo of two accoustic guitars.
Completely up to you and how you want your special day to feel...Typically, we perform multiple live sets across the night (usually 3 x 40–45 minute sets), with music played between breaks to keep the vibe going.
Yes — we regularly perform at venues across the Hunter Valley and are very familiar with the area and wedding setups.
We’re flexible, but generally require a space of around 4m x 3m for the band setup. We can adjust depending on your venue.
Yes, we hold full public liability insurance and can provide documentation if required by your venue.
We have a network of professional musicians and contingency plans in place to ensure your wedding goes ahead seamlessly.
